3 bet the flop don't just call, if he 4 bets I think you can safely put him on jacks or better, maybe AK.

If youre going to raise his flop bet, you must make it alot bigger. With just 3 orbits on somebody, Im going broke on that flop.

Re: Going broke w Overpair?

if I CR the flop to lets say 12 and he minraises or pushes > am i folding there?I can fold my hand to a push on flop @ this spot without bugging me too much

but otherwise i think if he just calls or minraises its destined to play for stacks and go broke with my hand am i rite?

Re: Going broke w Overpair?

What I tend to find at the smaller limits is that most players pre flop aren't going to be interested in getting all their money in unless they have AA or KK. I think your actions pre flop with QQ helps confirm this belief. Most players that I see who will re-raise a re-raiser (and thus essentially are saying I am willing to play for all my chips right now) typically have AA or KK. So by re-raising not just calling the re-raise I think you give yourself a lot of information and allow you to determine if you are really in one of the unfortunate situations where your monster hand is really only second best. If the aggressor only calls the re-raise I think it's safe to say TT-QQ, AK.... and we can all but rule out the QQ.

So I advocate a raise not a call preflop simply to gather more information and prevent going bust with QQ when you run into KK or AA....

And if the villain is skilled enough to realize that I think most people willing to commit their stack have AA or KK and wants to take advantage of me on this hand I'm ok with that because I'd prefer not only to be safe against MOST players, but I can than quickly pick up if this player falls into MOST players category or a player I don't want to tango with category simply by observing him a little closer.

Re: Going broke w Overpair?

after the reraise PF of Vilain my first impression was either he has AA or KK.So I didnt feel very comfortable to raise again especially OOP,coz i had the feeling he wouldn't fold.
But ur right I would've gain information if he reraised again.

3bet pf
3bet or fold flop, you wont win by calling down
i think you are beat on the turn, not because of the 5 but he says he got sth

Stacking off on this flop isn't all that bad, you might see 99-JJ as well as maybe AK or AQs flush draws. Lately, I've also been taking the safer route preflop by reraising preflop and letting the guy know that you not joking about his hand. How would you play this kind of flop out of position if an A or K flops and you didn't reraise preflop?
