In hand #1, villain had made the min-raise on the flop previously with a weak hand (he folded to a 3-bet shove) and a monster (trips). He has also previously called my continuation bet with an unimproved PP, then checked behind on the turn & river.

In hand #2, villain was quite loose and very aggressive.

Hand #1: RERAISE FLOP

Hand #2: I think you played this fine.

Reraise flop to 300-350 in hand one, checkraise the flop in hand two.

Hand 1 is ok

Hand 2 - I lead turn for 200. Explain why have you played the turn in hand 2 so passively?

hand 1 - I like a raise to around 175 on the flop, make him think he has FE. As played I think you need to bet that river for value.

hand 2 - Whether it be b/3b or c/r, I you need to get the money in on this flop (or at least more than $70).

i dont like a reraise on flop in hand 1. calling is fine. bet river for value. sometimes id donk turn on a non club/ace but this depends a lot on villian.

hand 2 lead or c/r flop. bet turn. do whatever it takes to get money in the pot.

I think you played both hands too passive. The turn in hand 1 is terrible, Jx and mid PP are pretty much his entire range, and there are a lot of random [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] that would love to take a free card.

Same in hand 2, you can't give away free cards on boards like these. Especially when weaker hands will pay you off.

In both cases you almost certainly have the best hand on a drawing flop, yet you just check it down. Not good.

Hand 1 -

The consensus seems to be that I should have re-raised the flop. However, my experience of this opponent lead me to believe that it was a WA/WB situation. Doesnt this require caution out of position?

I still cant see why I would bet that turn card. Why is a flush draw not part of his range here?

As far as value betting the river goes, what hands do I expect to get paid off by?

Hand 2 -

I think on reflection I made a right mess of this hand. I was planning to check-raise the flop but decided to wait for a safe card on the turn. I agree that I should have tried to get as much money in the pot as possible.

Having just called on the flop, a bet on the turn, as suggested by at least one of you guys seems good. However, I think an aggressive player can call on this turn card and take the pot away with a hell of a lot of river cards. I guess this is why I checked again.

Overall, I am not totally happy with how I played either of these hands. I dont mind admitting that they caused me a fair bit of trouble. I generally have an aversion to getting too aggressive when out of position.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

if you think like this then build the pot with this holding on the turn and be prepared to call a river shove

there is nothing wrong with this but you need to establish which hands you should be getting agressive with - this was clearly one of them.

I think you realise you potentially lost alot of value in hand 2 - over time this is a killer.
