2006 Season\'s most surprising stat (baseball -- specific player)

I mainly follow the NL, so there may be numbers in the AL that are more surprising ... but the two stats I think I'm most surprised by are Bill Hall having 34 HRs and Matt Holliday having 33 HRs.

And, as an honorable mention, Barry Bonds having 26 HRs in 360 ABs. It seemed like the guy hardly played this year; yet he's again on the precipice of 30 HRs. I heard that his 26 HRs is the most by any player age 42. It's too bad his reputation is sullied, rightly or wrongly, because the guy is incredible.

What player's accomplishment this year surprises you the most?

I don't care what anyone says, Ryan Howards HR total surprised the hell out of me.

Bonds once again leads the majors in OBP.

Pretty incredible.

Any ERA for a Detroit Tigers pitcher.

Huge pitchers park + best defense in baseball = really low ERA's.

Or maybe Kenny Rogers is just a gamer who knows how to win

What's sick to me is that it's his worst full season since like 1999.

I'm not sure whether I'm more surprised at Thomas or Bonds. I know in one of the preseason prediction threads I said that Bonds wouldn't even finish this year.
