Interesting hand from 5k live event.

This is from the 5k tourney held in Tulsa over the weekend.

107 players entered, we're down to about 50, 9 spots pay, etc.

Blinds are 300/600 with a 75 ante, we are 8 handed and I have 33,000.

UTG+1 I raise to 1800 with 99, and the player 2 seats to my left who has been on the table less than 1 orbit reraises to 3600. Folds to me and I call.

The flop comes Ts 4s 3h and I check and he bets 3k into an 8500ish pot. He has between 12k and 13k left after his bet.

I looked at him and he looked very calm and at ease with his hand. He was an obvious amatuer local player that was probably playing the biggest tourney of his life.

What is your move on this flop as well as your plan for later?

edit: oh, also, stacks on the table are I have 33k, nam le has about 30k, and noone else has more than 25.

If this were online I'd just fold right now, cause I think he has AA/KK like always. As played I think my standard is to just fold, but it's live and if you have some sort of reason to beleive he isn't doing that whole small bet [censored] with AA, and it's just a dogshit mind game, then I'd just call and see what he does on the turn.

Also, please don't give too much credit to my read that he looks calm. I'm far from the best at reading physical tells and I could easily have been fooled by an overacting tell.

I think you forgot what your plan was. You called the PF raise for set value. You have 50XBB, you are not ahead of his range, there is no need to fight over this pot. You have no read, the players body language is telling you he is ahead, he is an amateur, you have no reason to doubt him.

The small betting and the fact that he looks calm all point to him having a big pair. I don't see any reason not to dump this.

I busted out of a 2K event on a hand very close to this one and that is basically how I did it. He's got kings.

if you think there's a 0% chance that he'd fire again on turn or river with overcards I'd call (with the intent of check-folding the turn and river unimproved, barring a read), but in most cases I'd just fold

I think I like a call and a fold to another barrell. I do NOT think folding is bad though.

Mostly I fold, sometimes call to this smallish bet. Check to him on turn if you call and if he bets again it's an easy fold.
