Determining Bet Pot Amount

does anyone know how to calculate the bet pot number?

For instance, on Full tilt there is a button that will allow you to "bet pot". For the life of me I cannot figure out how they come up with this number. what is the equation? It seems fairly simple after the flop, but when someone bets and then you hit "bet pot" it gets confusing.

Say the blinds are 20/40 and there is 80 in the pot...bet pot throws out 160

blinds are 25/50 and there is 75 in the pot...bet pot throws out 175

anybody know how that works?

Thanks,

Re: Determining Bet Pot Amount

Here is how I think about it:

Put in the amount you would need to call then add the total in the pot to that amount.

Ex:

25/50 blinds, cost you 50 to call. If you just called there would be 125 in the pot. So add the 125 to the 50 it would take you to call. 50+125 = 175

20/40 blinds, cost you 40 to call which would put 100 in the pot. So 40+100 = 140.

25/50 and someone has raised to 150. Would cost you 150 to call putting 25(sb)+50(bb)+150(original raise)+150(your call)= 375 so add that to your 150 call and you have 525 to bet pot.

I think most people don't see that they have to put their call in first and then figure out the pot size. Then you have to bet that much more than the original bet amount.

Hope that isn't too confusing.

Re: Determining Bet Pot Amount

Example with antes:

100/200/25 - 9 handed:

100+200+225(antes) = 525 in the pot preflop

put in your call of 200 = 725 in the pot

now raise that much more to 925 to make a pot bet.

^^^ tooo slow..... w/e

if the blinds are 25/50 and there is 75 in the pot...

...

betting the pot implies you first call the bet of 50... then bet/raise the pot.

25+50+(your 50) = 125 = (the pot)

you now raise 125 (the pot)...

125 + (your 50) = 175.

Re: Determining Bet Pot Amount

thanks badger...i appreciate the response, i am confused about the extra 150

25(sb)+50(bb)+150(original raise)+150(your call)= 375 so add that to your 150 call and you have 525 to bet pot.

so why is that extra 150 thrown in there...why isnt the bet 375? If there is 150+50+25 = 225 in the pot when it is your turn to act, why are two 150 numbers added before determining pot...

this is the most difficult/easy thing ever...

btw...i believe i sent u a test version of Hands Free Poker, did you get a chance to try it?...i have a newer version if you werent able to get it to work...id love some feedback from a regular...PM if necessary

You have to add your call in to determine the pot size.

So 25(sb) + 50(bb) + 150 (original raise) + 150 (your call) puts 375 in the pot.

So you need to raise 375 over the original raise which was 150. So your bet pot size is 525.
