removing a window

ok so in my apartment there is a window on the east wall right in the center of the room. it is a fairly big window, but it should be easy to cover up.

when the sun comes up, light hits everywhere in the room, this wakes up me / keeps me awake. so i need to cover it.

i am thinking of putting up a thick sheet or garbage bags to block the light... this will look super ghetto thou. i have thought about cutting a piece of sheet rock, nailing it into the window, and painting over it so it looks like there is no window. this is a lot of work and removal will be a bitch if my land lord notices... i will say that it will be awesome if i can convince my land lord there was no window here, ever.

so yah, i need ideas... something that looks nice, not ghetto, and fairly easy to do.

hmmm- I'm not much into decorating - but how about a shade, and some curtains?

Just paint the windows with a latex paint, it will scrape right off with a razor for when you move out.

ok - well when I used to work nights, sleep days I had to block the sunlight where I slept.

instead of a shade I just got those levelor blinds that are like shades - they block light. and for the edges curtains worked.
It's not pitch black but neither is the night. It worked for sleeping

A correct shade will definitely block the light.

Cover the entire window in solar panels. Use that free light for something, and block it out at the same time.
