Top 25 college football players - who are the last 11?
The IBM/ESPN/ABC/WHATEVER top 25 players in college history, so far:
No. 12 Earl Campbell No. 13 Glenn Davis No. 14 Hugh Green No. 15 John Elway No. 16 Tom Harmon No. 17 Bronco Nagurski No. 18 Jim Brown No. 19 Dick Butkus No. 20 Charley Trippi No. 21 Archie Griffin No. 22 George Gipp No. 23 Johnny Rodgers No. 24 Reggie Bush No. 25 Ernie Nevers Ok so who are the rest of the top 11? Obviously there are going to be a decent chunk of old-timers most of us have barely heard of. But here's my stab. Herschel Walker Charles Woodson Doug Flutie Roger Staubach Brian Bosworth Does Jim Thorpe count? Red Grange Paul Hornung Barry Sanders Marcus Allen OJ Simpson Rocket Ismael? Ok, I have a feeling I'm missing some gigantic ones here. |

Someone that should be on this list that won't be: Anthony Munoz. [/ QUOTE ] He was injured most of his collegiate career. |

Byron White?
Jerry Rice? |

2-11. Bunch of scrubs (in relation to Vince Young) |
Re: Top 25 college football players - who are the last 11?
What about Ken Dorsey? Or Even Ty Detmer
|
Re: Top 25 college football players - who are the last 11?

What about Ken Dorsey? [/ QUOTE ] What a [censored] joke. We are talking about the greatest players of all time, not players who were merely good. Those Miami teams he quarterbacked were so stacked. It's not as if individually Dorsey was that great. Any quarterback that played with Andre Johnson, Kellen Winslow, Jeremy Shockey, Clinton Portis, Najeh Davenport and several first-team all-conference lineman should put up some sick stats. |

1. Vince Young 2-11. Bunch of scrubs (in relation to Vince Young) [/ QUOTE ] There aren't many guys who can single-handedly win a NC. |

Re: Top 25 college football players - who are the last 11?
Desmond Howard.
|
Re: Top 25 college football players - who are the last 11?
I think Thorpe is a good guess for a lot of reasons.
Hornung it would be kind of silly-- fitting to be rated higher than the guy who should've got his Heisman though. Doc Blanchard's name always seems to turn up when Glenn Davis does, but it seems a lot to have two guys from the same team. |

VY is a better defensive football player than he is an offensive player. Although that is sort of like saying infinity +1 > infinity |

[/ QUOTE ] Texas had a better defense than USC. That's why they won the game. That's why they beat Ohio State. Vince Young is the most overrated person in college sports since Charlie Weis. He would make 3 huge mistakes then do 4 awesome plays to win games. Of course, I doubt this stops ESPN from propping him up to be the God among men that he is around here. He has been fortunate to be the leader on good TEAMS. |
