Re: Q8o relatively readless.
Not sure I like the pf call, even getting 7:1 (soooted I call) on a 6max table. If I decided to see the river, which it seems like you did on the flop, then I'm prolly b/f the river here. W/o a read on UTG, though, I'm not sure I want to see the river. Did you think about a c/r on the flop? As played, I don't see how you can overcall the river.
-J (Just needed to add another "river" here, because 5 is perfect number of times to type river in one post...Damn! That makes 6 ) |
Re: Q8o relatively readless.
I have some thoughts here so I'll just list them
- This is about the best flop you can hope for with Q8o. Why not check/raise? - The PF and post-flop play don't seem congruant - Once you check/call the flop you are pretty much stuck c/c'ing future streets as the chance that you are good declines each time he fires. If you are going to do something, the flop would be the time to do it. - I think you are [censored] when he bets the river. A river bet the way the hand went down would be a pretty strong play. It would take a strong player/read to raise with a worse hand (no overcall, you might not have anything, etc). That might be your best bet if you want to play the hand in this manner. |
Re: Q8o relatively readless.
A turn donk would be ok by me. As played I think you can laydown on the river without a read that CO is out of his mind.

Not experienced in 3-6 6 players but I will give my opinion anyway.
7-1 doesn't seem enough to call preflop with 3 more players in the pot.Are you really hoping for the perfect flop? So,you got a more than decent flop.No flush draws, and straight draws with little cards.Since this is a raised pot there is less possibility that an opponent has an open-ended straight draw.Given the position of the players if you check-raise the flop,I think that you don't protect your hand against gutshots and you risk being reraised by UTG so you would probably fold after a reraise losing two small bets on the flop.I would probably bet into the raiser. If he calls,I probably beat him at the moment. If he raises and someone else calls I am already beaten. If he raises and the rest folds,I would probably call and then c-f the turn if I don't improve. Since CO calls the turn I think I cannot overcall. One of them must beat TPMK(is this correct? top pair medium kicker) On the river I would definitely not overcall. |
Re: Q8o relatively readless.
Caution This response is from someone who is trying to learn to play 6 max!!
Preflop call is thin IMO but OK Flop; Why can't we play this flop very aggressively. There are lots of hands in UTG preflop raising range that don't include a Q. If ahead we build the pot. If not we find out on a cheap street since we have no real good draws. Bet/3 bet/ call a cap. If capped- check fold or bet/fold the turn? If checked through bet /call the river? Somebody correct me here? |
Re: Q8o relatively readless.
i would usually b/f the turn.
i hate the river overcall. HU we have something to discuss, but as played i'm not overcalling the river. |
