This needed to be a poll . Depends how easy the raiser stacks off.

Re: Cold call Preflop

uhm, lets say he seldom stacks off with one pair but often with 2pair+ (is this appropriate for NL100, NL200 on FTP?)

pockets pairs are easy to play here (5% of effective stack = instacall, 10% if he stacks w/ 1pair, judgement in between)

I basically have problems with suited (gap) connectors and suited aces (esp. A2-A5)
oop they are easy to play preflop (limp after three limpers, raise after one or two limpers in HJ+)

Re: Cold call Preflop

Does anyone have the implied odds you need to play AXs preflop if you are looking to hit 2 pair/flushdraw, assuming you'r 100bb deep and play for stacks if you hit?

Re: Cold call Preflop

here is a monster thread about suited connectors by goofyballer
OP says:
Odds of flopping...
Two pair: 2%
Trips: 1.35%

Odds of flopping...
9 outer (flush draw): 5.2%
8 outer (straight draw): 8.0%
-----------------
Total: 13.2% (1 in 7.5 times, 6.5:1)

Summary

- you have a 5.6% (1 in 18, 17:1 chance) of flopping a good made hand
- you have a ~7% (1 in 14, 13:1) chance of flopping a strong (12+ outs) combo draw
- you have a ~13% chance (1 in 7.5, 6.5:1) chance of flopping a standard OESD or FD

anyway ... we can't assume that we are playing for stacks everytime we hit.
How often do we hit a set and it gets c/f or b/f by the preflopraiser?

PS: whats your CCP in general? on the button mine is ~5%, CO ~3% and the rest goes down faster

Re: Cold call Preflop

that means i need 13:1 implied odds if i want to play axs strictly for 2pair/flushdraw value?

Re: Cold call Preflop

how did you get this number?

Re: Cold call Preflop

Odds of flopping...
Two pair: 2%
Odds of flopping...
9 outer (flush draw): 5.2%

=~7% = 1 in 14?

Re: Cold call Preflop

looks good

but you aren't going to win a stack whenever you flop 2pair or a flushdraw

1-to-20 or so is a better number?

You are missing too many factor to have a meaningful discussion on this topic.

Among the relevant factors are the following.

[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]the preflop raiser's likely range,
[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]effective stacks and likely SPRs if blinds either call or don't call,
[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]tendencies of the blinds to come along or try a squeeze play on the initial raiser,
[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]chances that the raiser will c/f if he missed the flop or flops an overcard to his pocket pair,
[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]chances that the riser will c/b once, but c/f when he misses the flop or there is a scary turn,
[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]how many times the size of the preflop pot the raiser will risk on top pairs and overcards (implied odds)
[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]what the raiser thinks about you and your style of play,
[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]what are the reverse implied odds of your own hand (i.e. AQo/AJo/ATo vs a tight raiser might get you stuck for a good chunk of money post flop when an ace hits and he has AK).

Also, your range in the CO should be a lot narrower than on the button. Button and CO are not the same. It is a big deal that when you act in the CO there is still one guy behind you. If he chooses to play, then you are still OOP for the rest of the hand.
