Calling all ins on flush draws

is calling someones all in with a flush draw profitable. i get so many people calling my all ins with flush draws. the times they don't make its fine but when then do it tilts me so bad. this is mainly in cash games.

example:

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (7 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Button ($7.53)
SB ($8.77)
BB ($7.01)
Hero ($4.88)
MP1 ($4.49)
MP2 ($9.93)
CO ($9.23)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero calls $0.05, 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.05, CO calls $0.05, 1 fold, SB completes, BB raises to $0.3, Hero calls $0.25, MP2 folds, CO calls $0.25, SB calls $0.25.

Flop: ($1.25) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $0.5, CO raises to $1.7, SB folds, BB folds, Hero raises to $4.58, CO calls $2.88.

Turn: ($10.41) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)

River: ($10.41) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

Final Pot: $10.41

Results in white below:
Hero has 6h 6s (three of a kind, sixes).
CO has Td Qd (high card, queen).
Outcome: Hero wins $10.41.

Re: Calling all ins on flush draws

It depends. Do villains have bottom pair - top pair? Generally players are only calling with nut flush draws, or very close. Say the board is 2 8 9 two cards are suited. Villain holds AKs, they will always call. While if they have 45s, they are unlikely to call (as much).

Calling with flush draws every time isn't profitable, usually villain has around 35-40% on the flop to hit if he doesn't have a pair and you have TPTK or something similar.

Re: Calling all ins on flush draws

at the time of the all in call the pot was $8. the call is $2.88

Board: 2s 7d 6d
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 74.444% 74.44% 00.00% 737 0.00 { 6h6s }
Hand 1: 25.556% 25.56% 00.00% 253 0.00 { QdTd }

not a good call by the villain unless they put you on an overpair say 9h9s for eg where his overs are also outs.

Board: 2s 7d 6d
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 46.465% 46.46% 00.00% 460 0.00 { 9h9s }
Hand 1: 53.535% 53.54% 00.00% 530 0.00 { QdTd }

Re: Calling all ins on flush draws

Calling all-in's with flushdraws is usually bad. The case you provided is totally bad. You may have AdKd yourself and villain can be drawing fairly thin. If he had like Ad2d, he could make a better move since he has a pair + NUTflushdraw + an overcard as well. So to call an all-in with a flushdraw, you need more then your naked draw. One or two overcards, a gutshot/openender or a pair, and preferably, the nutflushdraw. Of course, no-one's folding 8d9d on a 7d6d2c board...

this analysis is MUCH more useful with hand ranges as opposed to specific hands.

It's not profitable in the long run for a player to keep calling all ins with a flush draw, especially a non nut one. And in your example it was even worse for the villain because some of his out were dead to you filling up. As you start to play higher you will see that the losing players tend to be the ones calling with non nut flush draws and open ended straight draws.

Now, if a player wants to push the action with a flush draw (especially a nut flush draw since that A could conceivably be an over card as well) that's another story because they pick up an extra way to win - if they get you to fold.

Re: Calling all ins on flush draws

I have a similar question, I was in the BB w/ K,10 suited, the action was folded to the button, and he called the bb for 1k, sb folded and i raised 2x the bb,and the guy on the button called. The flop comes 9s, Kd, 6D, the button went all in, so it was my turn to act. At the time i was 4th in chips, he was like 2 or 3, and only 11 players left with the top 9 paying out. Should i have called or folded? Any opinions would greatly be appreciated, TY.

THis is really too specific a question to be answered here. You should post it in one of the strategy forums here. Make sure to use a hand converter and have stack sizes and your reads on the players as they all play an important part.
