Where to stay in AC for cheap?

Want to stay in AC overnight next week only during weekdays. I don't want to stay at the weekends because it is more expensive. I will only be going by myself. I saw some motels/hotels on expedia.com and some of them are likee 60 dollars not including tax and fees. However, some of the motels look scary, one person said the place was shady and looked like it a place in Grand Theft Auto. Some hotels/motels near AC also are in bad neighborhoods some say.

Can anyone recommend me a motel/hotel that doesn't cost too much per night to stay in that is safe? Of course staying in Taj or Borgata would cost me a couple hundred a night and I cannot spend that much. Does anyone also know how much it cost per night at one of those motels INCLUDING all the fees such as taxes etc and what name of the motel/hotel you stayed in?

I am looking to stay there 2 nights, say just tuesday night and wednesday night next week.

Thanks guys.

Page 2 has a thread going about this.

As usual, although I am not paid or sponsored by them, I recommend the Howard Johnson in Absecon. It's not the Borgata, but the rooms are nice for the price. The hotel is about 10 minutes outside Atlantic City, on Route 30. This road will take you directly into Altantic City, so it is easy to get to/from the casinos. I am staying there this Tuesday night for $37.95 (including taxes), and it includes breakfast (usually coffee, juice, bagels, donuts, muffins).

For $5 you can park in almost any garage in AC and sleep in your car. Unofortunately you will smell like old feet the next day, and therefore must play at the Taj.

And if your lucky, when walking through the parking garage at 6AM after a all-nighter at the Taj, you might get to see some interaction of the male/female kind.
