Politics low content thread

Hey all,

Dont know if this was brought up at all while I was deployment earlier this year, but I thought I'd poll the forum and see what you think about having a monthly off topic thread similar to many of the other forums. I'm pretty sure I was against this when Iron brought up when I was a mod and I was against it, but for the life of me I cant remember why. Anyhow, I sent iron a PM but he hasnt answered so I'll just take matters into my own hands.

Vote now! (anarchists too )

I've read that my vote won't matter. So I have opted not to waste my time in voting in this poll.

Re: Do you want a Politics monthly off-topic thread?

Don't we have it already? It's just called the Ron Paul video thread.

Re: Do you want a Politics monthly off-topic thread?

What would an off topic thread be good for? Aren't the other sub-forums sufficient to cover just about everything? I think that maybe you meant a low-content thread which would be a good idea so I voted yes.

Re: Do you want a Politics monthly off-topic thread?

I don't see the point, but I also wouldn't mind if there was one. So I voted yes.

Well, it would be nice to have a cool place to post your ridiculous rants and such, as well as post pix. I like it.

I voted "yes" because there would finally be a thread that might not mention Ron Paul.

Ron Paul doesn't invade threads. Threads convert to Ron Paul.

I voted yes, just because I want another thread to talk about RP in. heeeheeee!

Re: Do you want a Politics monthly off-topic thread?

I vote yes, because an off-topic thread will allow me to continue to spread my lies about Ron Paul.

I heard he is actually a Sith lord?

Self pwned, IMO, LOL. I guess this is "the thread". Im jealous of Elwood's pics in the Trent Lott thread, so I'll post some later. Can't link photobucket from work, it got the ban hammer from the Navy.

Here's some low content Ron Paul stuff....

Dennis Kucinich recently stated that he was currently considering Ron Paul as a potential running-mate (obviously if it should come to that). Paul hasn't said anything about it, that I know of, but someone from his campaign (can't remember who) quickly shot down the idea. Thoughts?

What would one write in a "OT Politics thread"? Like, hey Im an ACist can I be your friend? Or Vote Ron Paul and look at my avatar to match; here's my aim!?? Oh wait that's 99% of threads already!

I think I'm being leveled here. But since you arent the first person to ask, I'll bite. Its basically for those of us who spend a lot of time (relatively) reading and posting in this forum and arent interested in many of the other forums. Its a chance to just talk about whatever strikes your fancy with the people who you generally interact with here. And it has to be said, if you dont like it or dont see the point, dont read it. A rant:

A few weeks ago, my shift Sgt told our entire shift that the YDC down the street was undermanned and that the latest round of recruits were almost out of the Academy, and we someone from every shift will have to fill in down there for a three day shift.

Long story short, I draw the short straw and get stuck down the street at the Juvie.

During my three days, I saw the following infractions:

- Inmate's bunk "rolled" with toilet paper by another inmate.
- Multiple masturbations.
- Three seperate occasions of people smoking in the dorms.
- Six inmates breakdancing in the quad.
- 16 fights in 3 days.

I also was the reviewing officer for a female officer who wrote up two females for sexual misconduct. They both denied it.

And people wonder why I hate children.

Ageist IMO, ban pls.

My mom was a counselor at a JDC in Florida for a while. Really sad situation for a lot of those kids when you see what kind of [censored] up environment they come from.

vulture,

There is a glaring fallacy implicit in the idea of a "low content" thread for the politics forum. Which of course is that it implies the majority of regular threads are "high content".

Personally, I don't give a [censored] if they masturbate or not, but it should be done discreetly. I actually noticed several others who looked like they could be, but it wasn't blatantly obvious, so I let it go.
