best logos

if this isnt't ELDF worthy, please move it to The Lounge!

I was driving between L.A. and Vegas earlier today, seeing lots of corporate logos along the way, and it got me wondering:

what is the very BEST LOGO in the world?

This is probably the most recognizable:

Now, the Golden Arches are certainly ubiquitous, but aesthetically speaking it just can't be the BEST.

I've always thought this was damn good and probably my favorite:

what say you?

Graphic Design class has taught me that the golden arches are indeed the most worldy recognized logo followed by Nike, with Coca Cola being the most recognized logotype.

The Apple logo and the Nike logo are clearly tops. Instant brand recognition with no words involved and they look good in an array of colors and environments.

I do think the red Coca-Cola logo is brilliant. The new can has removed the orange, for a simpler look. The marketing, and design always interests me. The polar bears for Christmas adverts is a reminder of their brillance and my enjoyment for their beverage.

The arrow in Fedex is badass. from wiki, "An interesting case is the refinement of the FedEx logo, where the brand consultants convinced the company to shorten their corporate name and logo from "Federal Express" to the popular abbreviation "Fed Ex". Besides creating a shorter brand name, they reduced the amount of color used on vehicles (planes, trucks) and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in paint costs. Also, the right pointing arrow in the new logo is a subliminal hint of motion."

I also like the vodaphone, the red sets it off.

Dom,

It's hard to argue against ones where people pay a premium for the privilege of having that logo stamped on their crap.

Nike is super high up there. Polo pretty up there too.

M,

Coke may well be the best of all time. The fact that some fairly subtle shapes/designs can evoke an image of Coke is a pretty huge logo success.

D,

If you're going to say Polo, one should add, Lacoste, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada (sport).

I don't know how to host an image. but would add BMW logo. Simple, identifiable, good looking and reflects the origins of the company.
