Hi everyone. This is a hand i played last night which is giving me some trouble.
villain is TAG 14/8/2 so he has a narrow range but I'm not really sure what that range is. I think I have to lead the flop, but when he cold calls me I am worried that i might be dead and have no idea what to do on the turn which i think is the most important bit of the hand. I think the river is an easy fold.

cheers

bet flop and turn. you put yourself in too touch a spot if you give up control of the hand on the turn. villain could easily be floating, drawing, or think his lower pair may still be good on that board. turn did not change anything so bet again. if he raises your turn lead then im considering folding.

in my experience, nitty villains at these stakes let you know about their J on a two flush board on the flop. so to me, villains play makes me think he is either drawing to clubs or has a worse pair, all the more reason to bet turn as well.

as played turn is fine, fold river.

but i think you are losing a lot of value and putting yoruself in too tough a spot checking this flop. just cuz villain called on a paired board does not mean he has that card. obviously two Js is more worrisome a flop than say two 7s because a J comprises more of villains hand range. but when the turn bricks you need to bet.
