Bodog, eight-handed. I have $52, and UTG has nearly as much. I haven't really noticed him, so I assume he isn't a big fish.

Preflop: BB posts $0.50. UTG raises to $2.50, I reraise to $6 in next position with black aces, everyone else folds, and UTG calls.

I prefer making your re-raise more PF, something around $8.

We're already helping to define our hand by 3-betting from an EP, so I want some value out of it where possible.

This is a great flop for us and I think you need to bet when checked to. It is unlikely that he has a 9 here, unless he has both of them. Two sixes is possible, but I dont see how you can worry much about that.

We appear to be in a situation where he's either got another pair (hopefully TT/JJ/QQ) or missed overs. I think you can get value here by C-betting $8ish. We're really not concerned about any draws. If he hits a two outer fine....

While we can check behind and hope that it helps bolster weaker one-pair hands (they'll think we missed our overs), really any Ace, King, Queen, Jack, or Ten may kill our action with a smaller pair. I prefer to fire here and see what happens.

If he has overs, he's and folds to c-bet, so be it. What you are hoping is that he has the overpair and is willing to stack off with them, as most villians will. You want to get money in NOW, in case an A or K comes out that would kill your action if he has TT-QQ.

This is exactly what I did...after which UTG went into the tank...and typed "I'm going to lay down QQ."

One of the fish at the table then typed "Bad laydown."

UTG replied "He reraised preflop from second position."

You should have raise to more like $8 PRE, you want to give him bad odds to get his set which is 7.5:1 and betting $6 will give him the right odds to call you with any pair and hope to hit. On the flop, since this one is not that scary for the potential holdings that he has I would put a 1/2 to 2/3 bet and just get value from him.

Good laydown by him. That's part of the reason position is so important. If you have AA in later position, you can smooth call his raise, but in early position, its risky, particularly depending on the table.

Make a note that this guy can make overpair laydowns and take advantage now and again.
