NL50 JJ Sanity check pre-flop

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (4 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($80.30)
Button ($46.30)
SB ($60.55)
Hero ($51)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to $1.5</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to $6</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero ???? </font>

Button is 23/12/1.5 and seems solid.
UTG is 36/14/0.84 and a donk.

What are we doing here?

2 options:
folding
calling for set value
4betting AI will only be called by worse hands

You can't call for set value profitably in the long run, and if you push his range has you crushed.

Readless, I fold here. You have an UTG raise and then a RR from a tight player.

UTG=CO

I probably call and play some poker. Nothing wrong with folding though. I don't like 4-betting as it would basically turn your hand into a bluff.

I'd call, and re-evaluate on a non AK board

I agree 4-betting is out of the question. I should also add this is the first time I've seen the player on the button 3-bet PF, although it has been a small sample. IRL I folded, which I hated but it didn't really seem like there were any good options.

Ok, let's say theoretically we call. UTG also calls The flop comes out

9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Do we b/f? c/c?

I think folding is your best option here. You are OOP and are crushed by his 3bet range.

Dont forget that if you are considering calling for set value that the CO has yet to act behind you and may reraise or push all-in.

You would then be faced with a tougher decision involving your whole stack.

If you decide to call and it gets hu to this flop I just check and shove over his $10 bet. I would never ever lead.
