Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread
 

Been looking to today since the loss in the AFC Championship game last year. Everyone knows about the offseason moves, meant to address the pass coverage and speed deficiencies the LB/DB groups. Adalius Thomas should be a huge addition. Merriweather looks to be a typical Belichick guy, capable of playing CB or Safety. and Asante Samuel is now ready to play, addressing another key offseason question.

on the offensive side, Randy Moss is ready to go, as is Donte Stallworth, though it remains to be seen how long it will take for Brady to get on the same page as these guys. Maroney's durability is also somewhat a question mark at this point.

However, with the offseason and camp questions addressed, some new probems have popped up. Rodnery Harrison is out for 4 weeks. More importantly, there are whispers that Richard Seymour may be out for the year (best case now is a return after week 6). Both these guys will be out for tough early season games against Cinci, SD, and the opener against the NYJ. The Pats have good depth along the DLine (though Mike Wright is also out today), but I don't like losing Rodney.

anyways, some great news, some bad news, but lots of reason for optimism.

I'm not a Pats fan (go RAMS), but I have always kind of respected you guys.

I can imagine Brady to Moss will turn out to be a pretty sick combination. Getting him for a 4th rounder was a steal IMO.

There are rumors that Seymour might be gone for the entire season. Complications from his off-season knee surgery and if he isn't healthy by week 6 we have to put him on the "done for season" list. Which would blowww.

It's pretty clear NE's the class of the AFC. A lot of people forgot how good Moss is because he was in that black hole for a couple years, here's to hoping they kill the Colts and wipe that clown Manning off commercials for a while

lol at the commentators trying to [censored] on moss. "the randy moss of old, with that speed"....he caught the ball, turned, and there was a defender like two feet away with more closing. i'm no moss expert, but i dont remember him like hurdling over multiple defenders on the way to the endzone.

After last year's SB everyone has jumped over to the "Manning is the best player in the game" side. But I think that Brady will reclaim that crown this year. People tremendously underrate how much having WRs like Wayne and especially Harrison make Manning look better. Brady will have that luxury for the first time this year.

22/28 for 297 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs in a road divisional game against a decent pass defense....not a bad start at all.

Manning has always been the best player in the game. Nothing's changed.

I remember polls on footballguys from 3-4 years ago where Brady would win 75%/25%. Nowadays thats just about the exact opposite though.

Of course its all just people's opinions.

And my opinion is that Manning, while one of the greatest QBs of all time, is helped IMMENSELY by having Harrison, who is one of the best WRs of all time. Look at how much Moss in his prime helped all those crappy QBs in Minny or how good Jeff GArcia looked with T.O. A great WR really helps a QB a ton. I'm not saying Manning isn't phenomenal because he is. But he is made to look much much better by Harrison. And I feel as if people overlook this when comparing Brady and Manning.
