AWOL - Inhalable alcohol

A newish product on the market which allows you to vaporize and then inhale alcohol. It's touted as a calorie- and hangover-free way to get f'ed up. However, here is a convincing article that claims:

[ QUOTE ]
Most of the calories in liquor come from ethanol, an alcohol that is present in all alcoholic beverages, liquid or vaporized. Ethanol enters the bloodstream following ingestion or inhalation and is broken down by the body, releasing roughly seven calories per gram (compared to nine calories/gram for fats and about four calories/gram for carbohydrates and proteins) in either case. Nor is a shot inhaled through the machine more "low-carb" than a regular one since hard liquor (in contrast to beer and wine) does not contain carbohydrates in the first place.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've been scouring google but I can't seem to get any additional info... it sounds crazy to think you can absorb calories/carbs through the lungs, rather than through the small intestines... but I don't know, maybe I'm way off here? Does anyone have any theories or knowledge on this? Getting drunk without all the weight gain would be pretty amazing.

Also has anyone tried this?

well you can definitely absorb toxins through the lungs (see: THC) so i don't see why that wouldn't work. as far as how your body metabolizes ethanol (gaining calories from the breakdown in the blood) i have no idea, kinda interesting to think you can inhale calories though.

Why is this not all over the place? I've been hearing about it for a while and have yet to hear of it actually being used.

I turn 21 in 3 months, and in my fantasy world it should be readily available by then.

I've heard of people being in bars that have these. Apparently it's like 20 minutes for 1 shot and you don't really feel intoxicated.
