PF and flop decision in $300+20 with 77s

I'm in SB with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in $300+20 MTT. There's 27 players left and my stack is t40000. Villain from EP has not done anything special at this point and he is playing pretty solid. He has t36000 chips and opens to t5000 from UTG+1. Blinds are 1000/2000 and average chipstack is around t35k.
Everyone folds and I call from SB, BB folds. Is this standard and what is my plan on the flop?

Flop comes 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I check and villain c-bets t8000, 3/4 pot, leaving t23000 behind. Now, what to do and why?

fold preflop (maybe shove?) and shove that flop since AK/AQ/AJ are all still in his range but calling preflop is terrible

Fold Pre-flop.
