Preflop question - suited trash in the BB

Unknown UTG raises. How many callers do you need to call with 72s in the BB?

Does it matter if the hand went X limpers and Button raises?

72s, i would think 2 other callers of UTG's raise.

I'm sure someone else can do the actual math involved, but I'll generally play it with one other caller. That's on the belief that not only do I have flush/two pair potential, but it's quite possible that I have two live cards anyway...obviously you'll want to adjust that depending on the raiser.

Unless the initial limper is a flaky LAG that's liable to LRR with crap, I generally don't care if it goes limp/raise/me or raise/coldcall/me.

If the raiser is Laggish, I usually call.

In the raiser is in the normal range, I usually call with one coldcaller.

If the raiser and the coldcaller are both very tight, I usually wait until I have two coldcallers to call.

One limper, and a button raise, and I call.

I believe HEFAP says you need 3 or 4... but that'd be in total, so 2 cold callers. With 72s I'd prefer 3. It's not like it's 76s.

I'm not sure I would ever play it. You can hit a flush and still lose. You can hit 222 and still lose.

but I'm pretty tight in the BB with no position and cards that could suck me in and make me lose even if I hit.

I just do not like having the worst position with bad cards.

Looking at my PT stats when I put money in from the BB with 16BB/100. My VPIP is 17% from the BB.

Perhaps I'm to tight from the BB but I REALLY hate not having position.

i'll play any suited hand from the big blind if it's only one bet to me.

As you should. I think calling this is AS dependent on how strong a post-flop player you are. If you think you're much better than UTG, you can call with only a couple of callers, but if you have trouble getting away from marginal flops (pair of 7's, 456 board), we need much more equity in the po to play.

Really good point.

What exactly do you mean by strong player, in this regard? If you only continue when you have a good made hand or good draw and fold all other flops, does this mean you are a strong player? If this is your scenario then I think you need at least 2 other callers to make this profitable.
