Non Hold-em games/Tourneys in AC?

Okay, so...after a couple hundred low-level tournies on-line ($6 and under), I've looked at my game and realized that I do better with the "off" games, particularly Omaha H/L and HORSE format tournies.

I have cashed in a couple of $50-$100 buy-in NLHE Tournies on previous AC trips (Won one, 7th in another at the Trop, 5th in one at the Taj). My tracking says I'm actually ahead in live tourney play (just barely, but that's how ya start, I guess).

I'm trying to find out if there are ever live non-hold-em tournies in AC? Someday I'll go to LV, and I have a dream of taking a shot at the WSOP someday, but I can't afford to risk the 2-5K for a buy-in there yet. I'm not a pro. I'm not even a talented amateur. I'm a barely better than recreational player. I want to try another game...is that possible?

To the best of my knowledge, no Atlantic City casinos currently offer anything other then no limit hold'em. Trump Taj used to run a Omaha tournament once a week, but it looks like that is no longer on the schedule. If a casino had a regularly scheduled tournament for anything other then hold'em, it was rare.

If your bankroll is good, some of the major tournaments may have other games. For example, the Trump Classic going on now at Trump Taj has Stud and Omaha, but you need at least $500 to enter. Both the upcoming Borgata Winter Open and WSOP at Harrah's are all hold'em tournaments.

I recommend, if your right now "barely better then the recreational player", continue practicing with the low-limit non-hold'em tournaments on Poker Stars and FullTilt. That way, you can get good practice and start to build a bigger bankroll that these non-hold'em events require.

FYP. Bigger fields, better structures = PokerStars FTW.
