JJ facing turn action

No comments on pf please, I dont need to be told to 3 bet, I sometimes do and sometimes dont. Normally this turn is a fold but I underrepped my hand so Im unsure now and main villain is a reg. Main villain runs at 22/10/2.

I think pre flop is fine for balance. If you have any intentions of folding turn to a check raise, either check behind or bet smaller. The problem now is you made a big bet that commits you to the pot, villian says "I has your 1 pair beat", and you say "oh [censored] how can I fold with these odds."

Re: JJ facing turn action

Villain's push doesn't make sense for a mediocre hand like Tp so it's either a semi-bluff with the FD or a made hand that beats you. I think you're beat here too often to call, he could easily have a boat, 7x or straight.

Anyways, could you explain why you would not 3-bet JJ pf? The problem when you don't do it is that it's hard to win any big pots because most of the time you'll only have that small overpair (heck, more often the board has an overcard and you have a middle pair). Varying your play is good but I don't see the merits in flat calling with JJ here unless your villain's pfr% is very low. I don't think JJ works well at all when you just flat call, too often you fold the best hand since JJ can't take much heat and it's hard to get much value when you do indeed have the best hand.

I didnt want to check behind due to the drawyness of board. I figure if I bet small it gives him odds to draw if he is. Yea actually thats pretty much how it went, me betting big, getting good odds, and figuring Im beat. Are you checking behind the turn?

I wouldn't check behind either, you want value from FD's and 9's. Anyways, you need to win this pot about 1/3rd of the time to break even. I'd still fold because BB's line is pretty strong, flat calling 3-way and then c/ring, I don't think we're good often enough here.

Re: JJ facing turn action

who is villian?
I think against a standard 20/10 type NL $50 reg, a big turn bet folds out everything were ahead of(including 9's and fd's) and gets called or check raised by hands that have us owned. If I decided to bet here, I'd probably go $9 at the most. I don't hate a check, especially if you think a check will induce a river bet out of busted draws/worse pairs.

My only problem with that is there are alot of cards that I dont want to see his the turn. But I guess I probably should have either checked or at least folded once he raises me. Villain is basherkid.

Re: JJ facing turn action

this line is super weird from a pfr, but all signs point to monster and I fold

I had a number of hands on villain so I figured he was a reg. I didnt think a reg would take this line with a monster but then again I have to realize that a reg isnt always a thinking player.

Isn't it the classic stack-a-donk line? I fold all day. I like the bets, no way I'm checking behind that turn.
