BJLTNYK/nutshot2 07-08 CBB Season Thread
We're gonna try and keep this pretty well updated and at least share our point of view on college ball for the season.
Just for the record tonight: nutshot2 Memphis -19.5 1H 2u LOSS Memphis -35.5 1u BJLTNYK Memphis -16 2H 1u We both expected Memphis to come out and rout. Greek was a pain getting money loaded today and I couldn't get my 1H bet in but have the 2H bet. Good luck to all this year. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
I'm on Memphis -35.5 as well. Lookin' bad for us so far. Last year I ran 56.4% on NCAAB. I hope to improve on that.
GL to both of you this year! |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread

BJLTNYK Last night/overall: 1-0-0 +0.91u Kentucky -28 1u Memphis -16.5 1h 1u Memphis -29 1u nutshot2 Last night/overall: 0-2-0 -3.0u Kentucky -28 1u Memphis -29.5 2u We both feel like Kentucky has a large edge on Central Arkansas a team that didn't face much of anyone last year in it's debut to D1. Kentucky returns a large part of its core minus Randolph Morris and although Jasper is out tonight we look for Kentucky to play inspired under Gillespie tonight. If you ignore the first 12 or so minutes of the Memphis game last night that game is an even bigger blowout. At some point their intensity just clicked and the D ratcheted up a few notches. Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts looked great and the whole team should dominate a mediocre Richmond squad even without Joey Dorsey. |

BJLTNYK Last night: 0-3-0 -3.0u Overall: 1-3-0 -2.09u nutshot2 Last night: 0-2-0 -3.0u Overall: 0-4-0 -6.0u Fun start for both of us but 'tis a long season. Tonight we both have: Morgan St +25.5 1u Gardner Webb +25.5 1u Gardner Webb/Kentucky U133 1u The smaller schools are hanging with the top teams better than we expected. Morgan St. greatly improved last season under their new coach while UConn took large steps backward. They're returning their young core but it could still take them some time to put it all together. Their outside shooting is still a large weakness and it could be difficult for them to bury a team. Gardner Webb's offense looked good last night and Kentucky played a nice and complete game. Their offense isn't one to destroy a team but their D should contain Gardner Webb for the most part. I look for a low scoring battle of wills there. Good luck all...time to start winning. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Both adding:
Gardner Webb +15.5 2H 1u Pretty balanced scoring attack thus far for GW...SU win wouldn't surprise me here. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Just one late play for us tonight:
UConn/Buffalo 2H U76 1u Will update record before tomorrow's gigantor slate. |

Gotta run out, so don't have time for a lengthy writeup... here's the plays for today from me:

Last night: 1-0-0 +0.91u Overall: 5-4-0 +0.55u Tonight's plays: Fordham -4.5 1u Butler 1H -6 1u Butler -11 2u Loyola MD -1.5 1u UNC Greensboro +17 1u VMI 1H -3 1u Lots of games tonight so spent alot of the last night sifting through team info trying to narrow down the slate. Fordham is returning one of the most experienced squads in the country and it's a make or break year for Coach Whittenberg. I love Butler tonight..they lost Crone and Ligon but still return most of their talented team from last year including some new recruits. They handled Ball St. with ease last year with minimal inputs from Crone and Ligon. Loyola MD has one of the top scoring talents in the country in Gerald Brown and could win this game by himself. GA Tech should have some growing pains in the beginning of the season. Yes, Gani Lawal is an amazing talent who will help but losing Crittenton and Young early could be tough to overcome. Greensboro is a tough squad who should be able to hang tough. Lastly, the high powered offense of VMI will return this year. The coach has decided to keep with the run and gun and I don't see any way that Northern Colorado can keep up. Good luck all! |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
I added 1u VMI 2H -2.
Really expect them to pull this one out. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
UCLA/Port St 2H U70
15-23 in 1H for UCLA...don't see how much more their offense can do. They only scored 36 even with that great shooting. |

Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Here's another instance of the "L" word in the SB forum this week. Except its a different L word.
We LOVE the BYU Cougars today -9.5 @ LBSU. Here's a quote from the LBSU Blue Ribbon Preview that sums things up well: [ QUOTE ] Last season, Long Beach State had it all. Skill. Athleticism. Leadership. And tons of experience. Not surprisingly, all that was more than enough to carry the 49ers to the Big West regular season and tournament championships. But that team was built for one title run, and when it was over, the pieces were scattered to the wind. The top nine scorers all departed, leaving the roster gutted. And despite earning Big West Coach-of-the-Year honors, Larry Reynolds' contract was not renewed because, athletic director Vic Cegles said, ''a foundation had not been built to ensure long-term success.'' Of that there can be little doubt. All that's left at Long Beach State is the scorched earth from last season's blaze of glory. [/ QUOTE ] Also this one: [ QUOTE ] The challenges are many, beginning with sheer numbers. Monson will likely open practice with only nine players on his roster, and two of them -- guards Chris Peys and Darnell Porter -- were walk-ons last season who were awarded scholarships for 2007-08 ''just to kind of see what we've got,'' the coach said. The 49ers' leading returning scorer and rebounder, guard Artis Gant, averaged a mere 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in less than 10 minutes of playing time per game. And because Monson wasn't hired until April, recruiting for this season's team was all but impossible. ''We've got less than 100 [total] points returning from last season, so there's really no one who has ever really played in this program before,'' Monson said. ''It's a new coach with new kids and a new outlook, and with new comes inexperience. It's going to take some time, and we're going to have some bumps and bruises along the way, especially early. [/ QUOTE ] Basically it could be a grammar school team out there against LBSU and I'd give the 9.5 and bet my house on it. Thankfully, it's a pretty solid BYU team that returns 6-11 Plaisted and a few other solid players who make up a decent nucleus along with a couple of decent freshmen. Coach Rose is back also, and he'll lead us to a 25 point victory today in California. I'm on BYU -9.5 for 12u BJLTNYK is on them for 9u Off the top of my head, I think yesterday puts me at 8-7 for CBB on the season (Butler, K State, Tennessee, Fordham, Dartmouth, UCSB = 4-2 yesterday). Can't speak for BJLTNYK's record but his is similar if not a little better I think. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Looks like CSULB isn't adding much to that scoring total. 4 points in the first 14 minutes against BYU.

Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Been listening to this game, BYU up 23 shortly after the half 38-15.. should be about 60-10 according to the announcers, lol

WMich 1H -5 4u We had Western Mich pegged as a tough team this season and they looked pretty bad in the first game. Pepperdine should be a nice team to rebound against. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Since this is the only CBB thread going, thought I would ask this here.
Thoughts on Oregon/Pacific over 148.5? They combined for 190 the first game out, why is this so low? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not great with game totals at the beginning of the year but Oregon beat up on a really bad Pepperdine team. I'm actually surprised Pacific won their opener...once they got their lead WMich was playing catch up inflating that total I believe. I think the line is about right. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
GT 2H -6 2u
Expect them to win this game. They're shooting the ball very well. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
GT looking great.
Adding: Cinci/Bowling Green 2H U70.5 2u Oregon 1H -9.5 2u Oregon -15.5 2u The only high scoring games Cinci/BG played in their first 2 were v. Belmont who has picked up everyone else's shooting. I look for another grind it out half. Oregon looked great in their last game and I look for it to continue tonight. Pacific was lucky to get a win in that first game. Tonight they're no match for the ducks. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Have a test in 5 mins so have to run...my units have now doubled so sheet needs to be updated to readjust totals.
Columbia -4 2u Del St has 1 player and like 0 rebounding. Columbia faced a tough Fordham team with 5 returning starters and touch defense. They should rebound nicely. I missed a nicer number earlier but I'm still confident in Columbia here. |

I'm adding:
BC 1H -9 1u Mizzou 1H -7.5 1u Tyrese Rice is back tonight for BC and I look for them to have a big effort tonight with him providing a big spark. Mizzou could be a dangerous team in the Big 12 this year. Mike Anderson is already making an impact with his 40 minutes of hell that he ran at UAB and I just don't see the Chippewas being able to keep up. And I'm off to the Cuse game. |

A thread like this is kinda worthless if you don't update your record ever once in awhile.

Not sure of nutshot...hes on tempban(lol) but he can update when he gets back. We have: USF -2 (4u me/7u him) Vandy -5(3u me/2u him) USF should be greatly improved in CBB this year as their whole athletic department improves. Their loss to Cle St last game is not indicative of the team as they were without their leading scorer and rebounder. Speaking of rebounds...UB is horrendous rebounding. They were outrebounded by Ohio Valley St and obviously UConn. They should struggle, even at home, against the more athletic USF. Rebounding and defense should also be an issue for Toledo tonight against Vandy. Vandy played a great complete game against Austin Peay last time out and showed they have enough weapons to be a top 25 team this year even with the loss of Derrick Byars. Toledo is a one dimensional team and if Vandy shuts down their top player tonight they could be in line for a waxing. GL |

Just one play to start out for me tonight. Princeton 1H -3 2u Iona is garbage once again this year. Princeton isn't great but I think they have a nice first half tonight. Will be monitoring alot of halves tonight as I have leans on games but want to see the flow of them before doing anything. nutshots ban ended this afternoon so he'll be able to post his record but his picks for tonight are: UNC -11.5 2u Princeton -6 1.5u GL |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
1-0 last night. An early morning Puerto Rico play.
Houston pk 3u VCU is getting alot of respect from that NCAA tournament run but this is a bit of a different team. Yes they still have Maynor but he can't win this game alone. Houston is really improving under Penders and I expect them to be a bitt too much for VCU in the end. Also 2u on Miami FL -7.5. I expect Marist to struggle more with the travel in this one and also have a difficult time adjusting to life without Jared Jordan at the point. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Bleh Houston loses by a pt. Miami romps.
Adding: Providence 1H -3.5 3u Providence should be stronger this year in a really tough Big East. Temple has some nice scorers but doesn't have the balanced attack to stick with PC here I think. |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
PC plays like 5 mins of bball in the 1H...bleh. Temple in some serious foul trouble and PC had some life late in the half.
3u PC -3.5 2H |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
Well we love pushing edges as we see them and tonight is no different. OJ Mayo and Co losing their first game at home to Mercer set this play up for us.
USC -23 (15u me/10u nutshot). Will obviously update records after tonight. This bet does not cripple us by any means and we love the Trojans here tonight by 30+. GL! |
Re: BJLTNYK/nutshot 07-08 CBB Season Thread
USC squeeks out a cover...that shouldn't have been so close. Way too many turnovers.
