video poker with the double down option

I had a question about video poker with the double down option. Is the casino able to change the percentages for the double down option? I get my butt kicked when I try doubling down on these machines and wish the casinos I went to didnt have this option as I really enjoy playing video poker but it's fun to double down and try to rack up some big credits quick. Sure sometimes it seems to work but more often than not its just burning money. I try and stay away from these machines and look for ones without double down option. Just wondering if theres any patterns to look for on these or if anyone had any insight to how the chips are programmed.

I got [censored] on a huge double down the other day and doubled down a full house on the dollar machines from 45 to 90 by beating a king, went again next card was a king beat it for 180 , went again got a queen to 360 pulled the case winner , went to 720 yet another king beat with one of the 2 aces and figured the odds had to be in my favor and up came the ace for $1440!! I never double down this often but I thought the odds were getting better in my favor but apparently not. RIGGED!! Anyways thanks for any advice.

(1)Ask a slot attendant to turn off the double-up option.
(2)Don't play video poker.

each successive double down is from a fresh deck, so your odds aren't getting better or worse.

doubling is always 0 ev, just adds variance.

play video poker sometimes.

Actually, it's -EV, assuming the machine is -EV to begin with. Not that doubling changes the percentage any, but your betting more, so you will lose more.

I thought you usually only were given the double-down option after a win. I haven't played in a while, so I could be very wrong.

You are right, its a high card game, not another VP hand. CORed is confused.

So whenever I play video poker (not often but it happens) I should always opt to NOT go for the double?
On the machines in my country you can always choose so there is no need to ask anyone to turn off anything. You donīt get to choose over there?
