how many hands makes a winning player?

How many hands do you think you need to play at a certain level before you can determine whether or not you are a winning player? 10K? Also, how many buy-ins should you have won at said level before it being sensible to move up to the next level? I'm mainly talking about PLO here btw.

Thanks for your help.

I think it matters how much you're winning since this impacts the probability that your results are due to within statistical variance. In other words, if you're winning only a little, it's more likely that your being ahead is due to normal up and down swings, not you.

Given the game actually plays larger than NLHE, I would say you need more buy-ins than the comparable level for NLHE.
