Think you're looking at a real polarized range here - I probably call

isn't A9 A8 A6 98 and AK all in his range?

I think I'd shove. He'll just figure you for a one pair hand, and like you said, there's stuff that calls. AK AQ are also hands he will show up with, because people are idiots.

Agreed, I wouldn't shove unless I have a better idea of what he plays like this.

Re: value shove?

I would 3-bet preflop especially since I have no reads on villain's postflop play (assuming you don't since you didn't include any). It is tough to estimate the value of AJ unless you hit two pair+.

I think villain is pretty polarized to missed draws or 2pair+. There are a decent amount of 2 pair combos that will call a shove, not sure if he calls with AK/AQ/AT type of hands though. This is tough... I think both are fine. I can't decide whats best.

Re: value shove?

I'd definitely prefer a 3-bet preflop against most players here, though calling can be fine in certain spots.

Given the incredibly screwed up line we are facing here, I can't see a shove being a good idea unless he is just a really bad player going to showdown too much. He isn't calling this shoev with some crazy 98 or whatever if he's good. Just call.
