20/40 shorthanded, turn spot
 

a friend asked me to post this.

20/40 foxwoods, game is playing 4 handed, villains unknown.

hero's in cutoff with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and raises.
1 fold, both blinds call.

flop J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
check, check, hero bets, SB calls, BB folds

turn J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
check, hero bets and gets checkraised.

our play and our plan?

Seems like a nice cake reraise to me.

by default I'd put him around J9/J8+ and some pairs like A7 or 88 which means you have an easy 3bet, if he caps call down ui.

There is a flush draw on the board and he may be afraid to bet the river (or not call a raise) if the flush gets there. Put in your money now. Check-call if raised again.

I was also considering calling the raise and raising the river. Does anyone like this better than 3 betting?

I prefer getting the raise in now because I would hate to be three bet on the river.

it he has a pp or a really bad jack he's not necessarily betting the river. it does have the added benefit that you are much less likely to be 3bet from a underfull though.

3bet.

if he has 78/88 he's usually scared off by the river anyway. if he has a FD he has to call. if he has JT he at least calls.

Assume you have the best hand and play accordingly, i.e. 3-bets.
