Another PS3 problem

I cant get my ps3 online, at all. tried looking through all of the settings etc and it wont work, cant obtain an ip address or something.

i no little about this sort of thing, im using a webstar cable modem, perhaps thats the problem?

i am planning on buying a router in a few days, but is there no way i can connect with the webstar until then, even if that means not being able to use internet on my pc until then that is fine.

any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Another PS3 problem

try unplugging the cable modem first if you're connecting the ps3 directly to that without a router. most cable modems effectively bind to the first network adapter to which they're connected, and won't release the lock until they lose power. in this case it could be holding onto your pc's network card mac address.
