Bellagio poker rate?

Can anyone give me any recent experience with the Bellagio poker room rate and how to go about getting it? (Checking here since some of the info I've found looks a little out of date.) Looking at their web site, looks like their basic room rate is $179. allvegaspoker lists the poker rate as $149 for 6 hours. Seems kinda steep for $30 discount. Anyone know if it's 6 hours per room, or per person? Can the hours be split? e.g. does 12 on Wednesday cover the rate for both Wednesday and Thursday?

Would the Wynn be a better deal for poker rate? TIA

The hours are per room, so 2 of you can play 3 hrs each.

6 hours for $30 might seem like a lot of play for minimal return, but where else are you going to play anyway ? Also, sometimes the poker rate is a bigger saving over advertised rates.

Wynn is cheaper poker rate $129mid week $199 weekend IIRC. Play requirement is the same and can be split.

AFAIK 12 hours on one day does not cover 2 days stay, but I stand to be corrected.

Is it imperative to stay at Bellagio or Wynn? You are going during a time when rooms are super cheap. Venetian's rooms are probably better than either and can be had $149-179 per night if you search a bit. Maybe even cheaper on priceline. MGM Signature is also superior and cheaper. Actually, you can get it for $130 a night or so on VRBO.com. But they charge a resort fee of $15 a day. And its very far to walk to the front of MGM...about a 10 minute walk from your room through a walkway and then through the casino to LV Bl.

And Ceasars is often $130 or less a night during this time, though the rooms are lesser quality. TI is also very nice and usually under $100 a night during times like this.

ive done the poker rate at wynn, and ive done it at bellagio.

the bellagio room was nicer imo, the food was better, and the games were better.

it cost i think 20$ or 30$ more per night, their method of determining room rate eligibility is a bit clumsy(rate card that the brush has to sign), and being unable to view the board from your room tv. thats really the only areas where wynn has bellagio beat.

Also comps, speed and quality of the cocktail waitresses, comfort in the poker room, the ability to get on the waiting list with a call from your room, and attitude of the floorpeople.

But other than those little things...

No, but I guess I'm not very good at finding good prices. I assumed a poker rate would be the best deal I could find. I'm going with 3 other guys, and I'm just making suggestions, but it will be a vote I guess. I do like playing at the Bellagio because of the games. I like the 8/16 and 15/30 games, and also would like to play 2/5 where it's the lowest game in the room because I have a feeling it would be a little softer than in a room that also has 1/2. Thoughts?

Besides, the rooms are never "super cheap" on weekends, no matter what time of year it is. They can be cheap during certain Mon-Wed periods, but who wants to go then? Besides the inconvenience of taking time off from work, etc, basically you're being told the town will be dead, and that's exactly when you don't want to go to play poker.

True.

The nice thing about Bellagio poker rate is that if you stay on a poker rate once and get your 6 hours/night, on all subsequent stays they don't track your play anymore.

Never got comped at the Wynn.

I dont drink when my money is on the table, but the Orange Julius at the Wynn *was* shockingly superior...

comfort in the poker room

The Wynn is a nicer room, yes. A wonderful atmosphere to grind it out in. Personally I prefer the noisier, polluted, and marginally less "comfortable" room at the Bellagio, because I prefer to make money when I play poker. Color me romantic I guess.

the ability to get on the waiting list with a call from your room

Yeah that walk to the elevator is brutal this time of year.

and attitude of the floorpeople.

The brush at the Wynn lied to my face about spreading a PLO game for me, which was the only reason I agreed to stay there at all. 6 people on the list for PLO but they didnt want to open a table? NH Wynn. Strike a blow for customer service.

My thoughts exactly, minus the sarcasm.

I've heard that rumor before, but when I showed up the second time, they gave me a card and told me to play 6 hours a day.

Re: Bellagio poker rate?

Well, I just got back from Vegas, and stayed at the Tropicana. I was able to get my room for around 50/night for Sun-Thurs, and only 180 for fri/sat.

Honestly, what do you need the room for besides sleeping? It had a good central location (right across from MGM) and the rooms aren't crappy for an old hotel.

A lot of strip hotels have nice poker rates, mostly Mon-Thurs, and trust me there is enough action there during the week. It's just a matter of waiting for the right game, and sometimes in Vegas, it's just a matter of knowing where to look!

Well, their policy is pretty straightforward. Make sure that you specify that you've stayed on poker rate before when you make a reservation. If they try to give you a card anyway I'm sure you can convince them that's not needed. I've stayed there on poker rate 3 times and they only tracked me the first time.
