Anyone been to Laos?
 

On Monday I'm going on a combination visa run/mini-vacation to Vientiane. I've done a little research and it seems like a nice place to chill, visit temples, drink Beerlao, and eat cheap French food (the nicest restaurant in the country is about $10 per entre). Anyone been? Daytrips are a possibility.

I have a couple friends who are Hmong refugees from Laos.

edit: leaving the Hmong to the tender mercies of the Lao is the biggest disgrace ever perpetrated by the U.S. government.
