NBC affiliates pre-empting Poker After Dark
Knowing that people involved with the production of Poker after Dark monitor this forum, I am starting this thread to deal with pre-emptions by NBC affiliates.
So far, I have verified that the following NBC affiliates are NOT airing Poker after Dark: KPRC-TV 2 Houston, TX (#10 market in the US) WDIV-TV 4 Detroit, MI (#11 market in the US) KXAN-TV 36 Austin, TX WMC-TV 5 Memphis, TN WGRZ-TV 2 Buffalo, NY If you know of others, please add to the list. |

Re: NBC affiliates pre-empting Poker After Dark
I live in the SF Bay Area and they showed it last night so I will cross my fingers that my Tivo gets it every night and they continue to show it here.
I always hate middle of the night programing because that seems to get times out of whack more ofter for various reasons. |
Re: NBC affiliates pre-empting Poker After Dark
I sent a note to the general manager and program director of the station in Memphis and I would urge anybody in a city that has POD blacked out do the same.
The excuse they gave me was that they might loose access to programming if POD was canceled. This is inaccurate given that their schedule from 2:00 to 4:30 is 2 episodes of King of Queens, a repeat of the 10:00 News, Who wants to be a millionaire and Fraiser. I pointed out in my reply that if they cut the news repeat and 1 episode of King of Queens POD could air, and if canceled they could easily return to the old schedule. Didnt hear a reply to that. I also suggested that they telecast POD in place of Carson Dailey which is on after Conan. The reality is that if the local stations programs those hours they keep the commercial revenue, if the network programs it the either don't or get significantly less. Basically its a revenue issue. Which probably means we're screwed. But keep pushing. My advice to all is, if you want POD, ASK FOR IT. Send an e-mail to the program director and General manager of your station. |

In Alberta we get KHQ out of Spokane at an hour's remove. They aired infomercials.

Re: NBC affiliates pre-empting Poker After Dark
One viewer reports that WGRZ-TV 2 Buffalo has added Poker after Dark at 3:30am Eastern Time, replacing the re-run of Jay Leno.

Re: NBC affiliates pre-empting Poker After Dark
The WGRZ website now lists it for 3:30 am,so they probably got many complaints from viewers and finally had to bite the bullet and lose that delicious infomercial money they love so much.
Die WGRZ, die!!!Next time don't cut out poker, or else!! You CHEAP bastards!Poker rules!!! Infomercials suck!! |

Re: NBC affiliates pre-empting Poker After Dark
In Minnesota they have Carson then a Repeat of the 10 Pm news, 1 Informercial, then POD. Thats better than not airing it at all.
The wife folded and let us upgrade to a DVR so i dont keep her up while watching it in bed:-D I want to see Greg Raymer on it. His first TOC table really impressed me and I am a big fan of a short handed Fossilman. But the class he exudes seems to be frowned upon by POD. How about Matesow Raymer Grinder Fischman, Boyd, and the juggling/casino game dude that lost to fischman but got a bracelet later that year. I like the layout of the show. The nameless anouncers are annoying, Shana is still hot. POD should be on instead of carson! |
