Title should say Shooting, not shootout. Thought I was opening to read something about a poker tournamnet.

wow people shooting it out in a las vegas parking structure, how is this news, especially since it was barely a 1 minute story on the local hd cbs channel and the only reason it was that is because richard whatever his name his had 7 mugshots on file, this is not news.

note from *TT* - keep your biggotry to yourself

Are the las vegas strip casinos normally this violent?

Re: Shootout at ceasars LV

The rumor flying around yesterday about noon was there were three people shot INSIDE Caesars right outside Pure. THAT would be news...people don't get shot inside casinos very often. I was disappointed (sorta, sorta relieved) when I got home and flipped on a replay of the 11pm news and found out it was in the parking garage. Outside, it does happen, typically in the parking garages or in the back, sometimes out on the strip.

Keep it in perspective. There are a couple hundred thousand folks visiting Vegas all the time. A few times a year someone gets shot outside a casino. But it's USUALLY someone who's "involved" with the wrong people. They get in a fight, they mouth off at someone... whatever, it's not random undirected violence. If you aren't stupid you won't typically find yourself in a situation where someone wants to point a gun at you. Obviously there are exceptions and good people get 9mm holes in 'em now and then (stray bullet from drive-by during All Star Game, NYNY shooter).

All that said, I do find the Caesars parking garage a considerably not-so-friendly place often late on Friday and Saturday nights. Seems a few gangs have taken to sometimes just hanging around near the elevators. But I've also noticed the last few trips there on a weekend that security and sometimes even LVMPD are also just hanging out around the elevators. So I'm not too surprised something nasty went down in the CP garage. Hopefully they'll take this event seriously and work a little harder to keep the garage from being the in place to hang at 3am on Sunday morning.

I would think that news would hit here, since Pure is right next to the poker room and everyone inside would hear gunshots.

Okay, so it was NOT my imagination the last time I went to Caesars. It seemed almost like gangland when I went from my car to the casino. I figured it was just coincidence, but it was the same when I left, except people were drunker.

It's news only because lots of people have an odd belief that the LV strip is some sort of disneyland-esque place that is immune from normal crime that plagues big cities. There has been posts on the subject in the past, with an awful lot of people claiming the strip is not dangerous.
