No one believes this and you don't really come off well by pretending they do. Its a tired strawman and we even have a thread about it going right now.

LOL at the ignorant right-wingers voting for Pearson, not realizing that he's a progressive hero. gg OP.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, it's a no win situation. Find me the last time the Nobel was given to a hero of industry, capitalism, and industrialism?

Its always some socialist anti-capitalist.

[/ QUOTE ]

They have a thing for that. It's called the Nobel Prize in Economics.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't they have one for science too?.... I doubt Algore's scientific findings were up to snuff though.

Al Gore never said he invented the internet.

No one believes that Al Gore invented the internet.

In 2008, would it be too much to ask for you to vote based on things people have actually said and done? Probably.

Re: Who was more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize? Pearson Vs Gore

Krugman had a funny article about deadenders and Gore.

"Gore Derangement Syndrome

On the day after Al Gore shared the Nobel Peace Prize, The Wall Street Journal’s editors couldn’t even bring themselves to mention Mr. Gore’s name. Instead, they devoted their editorial to a long list of people they thought deserved the prize more.

And at National Review Online, Iain Murray suggested that the prize should have been shared with “that well-known peace campaigner Osama bin Laden, who implicitly endorsed Gore’s stance.” You see, bin Laden once said something about climate change — therefore, anyone who talks about climate change is a friend of the terrorists.

.....What is it about Mr. Gore that drives right-wingers insane?

....The worst thing about Mr. Gore, from the conservative point of view, is that he keeps being right. In 1992, George H. W. Bush mocked him as the “ozone man,” but three years later the scientists who discovered the threat to the ozone layer won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. In 2002 he warned that if we invaded Iraq, “the resulting chaos could easily pose a far greater danger to the United States than we presently face from Saddam.” And so it has proved. "

Are we allowed to hold his speech at the 1996 DNC Convention against him? The one where he gave a tear-jerking speech detailing how his sister's death from cancer turned him into an anti-tobacco zealot? Of course, years after his sister's death he was still taking tobacco money and bragging that his family had grown tobacco. I certainly hold that against him.
