you WIN at the table, and now you feel you should be making MOOVES....

Ok so, im sure im not the only one that suffers from this:

Your at a live table, you're up maybe 2 or 3 buyins. Feeling good. running a bit of a cold deck, but thats ok, your up. A few more hands and you realise you are not really paritcipating in the gmae anymore...not getting cards, not hitting draws, folding to easily to pre flop aggression etc.
You feel you could easily outplay some of the donks that have just won some big pots...and if you were paritcipating even with crap cards you could win....

You feel you should be mkaing mooves. After all your are big stack, you wana proove that you didnt win your 2 or 3 buyins by pure luck. So you star raising A7o in CO and c-betting into 3 people on a drawy board...etc etc.

And so the story continues. Does anyone suffer from post-winning-fancy-pants syndrome. I just cant sit there and be satisfied.

The same thing happens if i join a table with players who ive played before, and they comment in passing that your a good player, or make some refrence to your last winning session, to the point where you feel you need to live upto it.

When im in this situation i tend to FEEL that i won by luck ie say KK vs JJ pre flop and up one buyin....and now i need to proove that im good, and not let opportunities slide, and should "play poker" by bluffing people of made hands or showing aggression with crap hands, or winnings pots by "outplaying" opponenets.

I hope someone can understand or relate, i just feel that this is a huge problem for me, and i dont understand when i should relax and wait for cards, or when i should turn on the game and play tricky.

I should mention, i typically play 0.50/1 , 1/2 live (0.5/1 live on electornic poker machines at casino).
I play online also, but online is 6max, and live is 10 layer full ring. I can handle it in 6 max as i play multipe tables and obvisouly get like 2x or 3x the ammount of hands as you do live.

Thats uh...great.....care to elaborate?
And if i was a fish, i probably wouldnt be expriencing this nearly every time i play, seeing as i do win far more then i loose.

ofcourse i guess i could be running this good for this long. but its been a while. Thanks for your thought provking, and detailed response, you're champion of psychology forum.

You are probably just bored playing just one table and you feel you should get creative. That's why I don't play live.

Its a matter of overconfidence, and I go through it when running real well. You have to remind yourself to just play the correct way and not make mistakes. Overconfidence can kill your bankroll as fast as tilt!

overconfidence is tilt...since tilt is anytime your not playing your best. secondly who cares about proving how you won the chip you won them don't start bleeding them away just to prove your worth. stay relaxed and play the smae way that got you those chips. its all about maximizing value period

yes i do this sometimes you just start making random moves with weaker holdings than usual, start three betting people with 97suited etc..can be costly at times its mainly down to bordom.

I think that you are playing correct at these times but losing because you aren't comfortable with being so far ahead. why not move to the next higher table rather then sit at a table up 3 buy ins (what ever that is) if you mean min buyins at 1/2 which is 20 dollars well you are in a delusion. But as for the playing if you are not liking playing that way move up were lossing matters.
