10/20 Live/deep, time for a thin value bet?

10/20 Commerce. UTG is a solid pro, CO is the Villain, he's an older Asian guy who literally just moved to our table and whom I have never seen before, so no reads whatsoever.
UTG ~ 4k'ish, me and CO have about 7k each, i think.
UTG opens to 100, CO calls, I call on the Button w. 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], blinds fold.

Flop: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (Pot 330)
UTG checks, CO instantly throws out 2 white chips, I make it 600, UTG folds, CO instantly calls.

Turn: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (1,530)
CO checks, I check behind.

River: T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (1,530)
He thinks for a few seconds and checks, I...

Thoughts appreciated,
Kirk

I definitely fire.. there's just so much of his range that has to make a thoughtful fold...

this doesn't seem that thin, considering the action. I think 8 or 9 be fine.

does anyone check here to see what villain played this way? cause i'm assuming, blindly, that villain is going to fold more times than just calling 8 or 9 hndred, so checking to get info could be worth more later on? or is that a bit flawed?

i think in general though i'd prob bet a little, and if i would check, it would be for the above reason and not really anything else.

I can't imagine checking here is ever a good idea to see what villain has. I'd rather get paid or get away without showing my hand.

700 and fold to a raise.

kirk, 100%, the best bet for you to make right here is bet 400$ish.

There is almost no chance you're getting checkraised here, and if you want value from a small pair or an 8, then you can't bet too much (this isn't a spot i can see this asian guy calling 1200$ with an 8, a 5, or pocket 4s). He might have JJ here... but probably you are good, and i like making a real small value bet against a live player who will never check-raise bluff you. I would just bet very small, like 400$.

I would take my time and try ponder for some tell. If I can't find any, I would maybe bet the half pot.

depending on whether he's a thinking player or not I think if you're value betting $400 is pretty silly, since if he's putting you on missed clubs and has 78 you're missing quite a bit of value. A little over hp would make sense to me, but you obv. know enough about my skillsets to know not to give my advice too much credit here.

also checking behind here seems dumb since the information we give away showing down this hand is probably more significant then the information we might gain from a villian who may just be bad at poker.

its not thin at all really, but i like betting 800+ than like 400. i like raptor's 950 here best i think.
