Hand mucked, pot pushed, then hand unmucked
 

This was a hand my friend was in, and I was not suprised by the ruling in my house, but I was curious what you guys think the ruling should have been.

The final board read T-9-2-2-3, the river gets checks down and my friend tables T-9. Villain throws his hand away, the pot is pushed, and my friend says "i thought for sure you had an overpair" as he is raking in and stacking the pot. Board is still out there and the hand is in the muck, but somewhat identifiable. Villain grabs the top 2 cards from the muck and pulls out 2 aces.

Floor is called.

What's the ruling?

I would also say T9 keeps the pot. Villain can not just grab what he thinks is his two cards out of the much, especially since they are, as you said "somewhat identifiable".

I think it has to be "clearly" identifiable. And as mentioned, it doesn't matter after the pot is pushed.

I'm far from an expert, but even if the hand was clearly identifiable and the pot hadn't been pushed, would it matter? This isn't a case of the dealer mucking someone's tabled hand, the guy folded. You can unmuck, but I don't think you can unfold.

I agree with tyler; even if the two cards are clearly identifiable, the player folded and his hand is dead.
