$200nl HU Cash - Botched AK

Villain is pretty much unknown to me. He has been a little looser and passive preflop than I am used to 40/22 but over a real small sample.

Postflop we haven't played any big pots so far.

so please critique,

Flop bet size.
Turn c/raise attempt.
River bet and bet size.

Flame as hard as possible please.

just fire turn, dont try to get fancy with a c/r...also bet like 30 on flop, 20 is way too small.

Bet the turn and check-call the river instead of checking the turn and betting the river .

For this particular situation , you need to win just over 30% to make the call profitable . I don't think you have that here considering there are so many hands that can win against your tptk .

If you bet this turn and get called. Do you still check call this river for what I assume will be for a pot sized/stack bet?

Yes I would because it is a perfect bluffing opportunity .

It is more likely your hand will win 1/3 when villain makes a psb otr , than calling when your river bet is raised .

You definitely need to bet more on this flop.

3 bet larger pre, if you are overbetting flop, don't check turn (checking turn is only good against opponents you know like to get out of line in 3bet pots alot - alot of the time you can get them to shove over a turn bet anyway)

- as played check call river.

I raise more PF, but that may or may not be personal style.

Definitely bet more on the flop. I tend to bet like 30 here - it's definitely more than I'd bet in a 6max game, but it also has a lot more FE imo. Also note the effect that your bet sizing has on the hand as a whole; if you 3bet to 21, there's 42 in the pot on the flop. if you bet 35 there and get called, there's 112 in the pot on the turn with like 140 behind, so you can bet 80-90 on the turn, making your river decision trivial.

As played, bet the turn. If villain called the flop with a 6/8, he probably has an osed now, so he's quite likely to check the turn behind with his improved outs. You gotta charge him for that now. I could be wrong, but I'd say most times when you do see a bet from villain here he either has total air or a monster.

On the river, bet/fold is pretty much your worst option imo. Betting with the intention of calling a shove from someone you know bluffs a lot is ok but pretty risky. Checking and calling a bet based on betsize/other reads seems like the best play.

The way you played the hand, you should check call river. There is no sense in betting because only better hands will call you.

I don't mind a checkraise turn if the board wasn't so scary. You have to bet turn because of that scary board. Raise to 20 preflop, potsized bet flop because of a scary board, and then you bet pot on turn and you commit yourself.
