Is there a hard disk size limit these days?
 

Will I run into any trouble trying to run the biggest disk I can find? (on a slightly older machine) Are there older IDE standards that have disk size limits? Does 32 bit Windows impose a limit?

(I did a bunch of Googling but all I found was a ton of stuff from 2001 about the 3 GB limit and junk like that)

I see there are consumer drives up to 4 TB now, though the price goes nuts above 2 TB.

As long as you have the latest version of XP or Vista you should be fine.

I think I remember reading that NTFS5 can support up to like 200 something TB, but the MBR can only handle partitions up to 2TB.

The limit to a NTFS volume will not be hit for a very long time. Its something incredibly huge.

Anyway I think I'll stick with a 2 TB disk and that should be safe.
