ugh TPTK raised on the river

Live 40 somewhere between 7-9 handed. Villain seems to be sort of bad. Not god awful, but not good. The first hand we played together I raised some ugly AX hand OTB, he 3bet sb and c/c the A92 flush draw flop. This was fairly alarming, so I opted to just check the turn and call the river when the flush came and he had AKs. Another hand we played I rivered him with my top pair against his bottom two by runner runnering a pair on the board and was very unhappy.

So, I raise AKo somewhere in EP. Get 2 coldcalls from MP and the villain on the CO, BB defends.

Flop: QK2 rainbow

I bet, villain calls everyone else has folded.

Turn: 8 rainbow completing

I bet he calls

River: Q

I bet, he raises, I frowntown and then begin to think until finally doing whatever it is I did.

It seems to me that he will bet any K if we check the river and maybe he takes a stab with JT/any PP. So we collect that one bet more often when we check and never lose two when we bet. Also there is nothing to frown or think about when he raises as you alredy knew what you would do before making that initail bet...correct?

As is I'm not folding at 11:1 unless I knew the player well enough

This definitely depends on your read. The first hand you described against the villain really gives no indication how aggressive he is since he could have easily missed a check raise on the turn in that hand. So to all of us readers he could still be some lagtard who loves to raise rivers on steals.

Against most people, I think you must make the call. In this situation I've 3 bet, called and folded depending on the opponent.

I think this is a pretty easy fold and you played the hand fine.

"Sort of bad, not god awful but not good."

This kind of player is never bluff raising the river.

Agreed. Think if you pay you'll see AQ or QJs everytime here.

1. Who was it?

2. Lay her down against almost all of the regs.

It was "Jin".

In the hand I was about to muck, then picked up my hand, looked at it for a long time in frustration. I eventually called, hoping that he hated me enough from that hand I sucked out on him earlier to raise with JT or whatever sort of hand he was either going to call down with or perhaps planning to call and bluff river the whole time. He had KTo and I am completely perplexed as to whether he thought he was bluffing or raising for value, because up to this point he had no reason to believe I'm capable of folding top pair or an overpair.
