1050+50: Big Joe button limp... common?

So I was watching one of the 1050+50 sngs on Pokerstars and saw bigjoe2003 limp twice from the button with the blinds at 75/150. He had something like 20BBs. Is this a fairly common play for sng-ers? I never really limp from the button, but bigjoe's success is tough to argue with, so I'm curious to hear what the theory is behind this play and if its worth incorporating into my game. Thanks.

I do this sometimes. Basically, use it whenever you think your opponents are on an exceptionally wide restealing range, and your hand can't call. This could mean loose people in the blinds, or you've been raising a lot lately giving you less credibility.

Thanks for the tip. Makes sense. I assume you mean hands like KJ, QTs, and A9. Probably don't want to do it with small pocket pairs since they play so poorly postflop.

Even small pocket pairs are fine, they only play poorly post flop if you play them poorly. Usually a bet on any flop takes it down vs. the blinds random junk.
