Places to play small stakes limit Hold\'em in St. Louis

I will be going to St. Louis on business next week, and a group of us just want to play some low-limit HE (2-4, 3-6, up to 5-10). Are the poker rooms in MO or IL non-smoking as they are in NJ? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Nat

Both Ameristar and Harrah's have 3/6 limit. Sometimes other low limit games like 4/8 and 5/10.

Both rooms are no smoking, but Harrah's is better shielded from the rest of the smoky casino.

Both can be found if you drive west on Interstate 70 from downtown. Ameristar on the west side of the Missouri River, Harrah's on the east side.

The President Casino downtown also has poker, but I've never played there. I haven't heard many good things about it.

I wouldn't even consider it, especially if unventilated smoky rooms bother you.

No smoking at the President tables, but the "room" is surrounded by a waist-high half-wall. Needless to say, smoke laughs at it.

They're also the only place in town that doesn't do 3/6. Their low-limit game (actually, the only limit game they regularly spread) is 4/8, with $1 and $2 blinds.

Ameristar is good about starting interest lists whenever there's a table free. I started a Crazy Pineapple list last week (no takers, unfortunately).

Harrah's pools your comps from any of their casinos. Ameristar doesn't. I don't think the President has ever heard of this, this "comp" thing.

Oh, and the STL-area boats on the Illinois side don't have poker. Illinois does have the Sauget Ballet, however... just keep in mind that there is no sex in the champagne room.

The Sauget Ballet ... lol.

Always nice to take in a little culture to round out that poker trip.
