77xx bottom boat

Early in the session, not much of a read on Villain, but most likely typical loose-passive shortstack fish.

Not sure if I played this right, I considered putting a blocking bet on the river.

How would you handle bottom boats OOP in general?

You can't check the turn. And if you do check the turn, you have to call the river. But don't check the turn. But, since youre going to, call the river.

I would have just set him in on the turn, since he was so short. He is likely drawing to 10 outs, of which you will really ever only know 1. The K and 9 are pretty crappy for you in general, since they coordinate well with a Q.

If it were deeper, I would probably throw out a 3/4 - full pot bet and fold to a raise on the turn. If the turn is called, I probably throw out a 1/5 - 1/4 pot value/blocking bet. If your opponent calls the river bet, you are probably winning. If you opponent raises, you probably have to muck unless you have a good read.

He's suppossedly a shortstacked fish with $20 left. You have $84. Just because he called your flop c/r, with most likely a re-draw Q, you check the turn and fold the river?

If he's a LP fish, he's never folding that flop with a Q. When you follow up by checking the turn he could easily figure you were bluffing the flop looking to fold him out.

Based on your line, I think you have to set him in for his $20 on the turn.

Definitely bet the turn. After you check the turn and check the river, he might think his AQxx is still good. Or he may have hit those running spades for a flush and think that you only have the bare Q. Call the river.
