Large live MTT vs poor players

I plan on playing in a either a $300 or $500 WSOP Circuit event at the end of the month and I am really unsure of what is the best way to approach it. I've been told that they bring about 500+ entries and are full of dead money.

What would be the best way to approach such a field? Also, should I expect a lot of these guys to play weak and fold hand or just call me down with ATC like most low-stake live players do?

First off, I haven't played any of these but from what I understand the play is horrible. My suggestion is if you are fairly deep stacked see some cheap flops with scs, small pps, and suited Aces in position, small pps I'll limp from anywhere and try and flop a monster and bust someone who can't let go of their tpnk. This is my basic strategy for ss mtts, change it up if you're not surrounded by stone cold idiots.
