WPT Paris, worth going?
 

Been talking with a few guys. Would this event be worth going to? Also, which sites offer satellites to it? Anyone been to the Aviation club before? What about paris? Tell me about it if you can, thanks.

Paris is beautiful man. It used to be a stop on the old victorian grand tour for the aristocratic kids.
Its old Europe.
You should deff. go if you get the chance.

The place is much more interesting at night BTW
especially around montmartre to the river

I spent 3 weeks in Paris in 1999 and I loved it. It's an amazing city. I was actually outside the Aviation club 3 or 4 times (it's right on the Champs Elysee) but since I didn't know what poker was yet I never went in.

I noticed UB is running sats and I'm tempted to give it a try. If I could go to one place in the world I'd pick Paris. (one note I speak french. The common conception is that they don't care for americans there.)

Define "old".... it got remodelled during Napoleon's reign. But, it is indeed a beautiful city, definately need to go there once.

Paris = awesome. My brother lives there, so I've had the opportunity to go a few times. Worth going to WPT Paris just for the trip.

Aviation club is only average, I think... I was there in December when I was visiting my brother. The EFOP (European Finals of Poker) was just ending, so I played in a 100 Euro NLHE event. The structure sucked 20 min levels (IIRC), short stacks to begin with, etc... It was a crapshoot. I ended up being about 80th out of 200 runners - JJ vs AA, AIPF to cripple me.

The 'casino' itself is a private club, very smoky, and very small. I didn't play anything other than the tourney, but it looked like there were some pretty good poker games going.

Summary: Paris is awesome - go for sure. If the WPT structure is better than the EFOP structure was, you're gonna have a blast.


Edit: Not private in the sense that you have to be a member or anything, just that you have to check in at the door with a passport, dress the part, etc...
