Variance of SS vs DS no limit

I assume that the variance in short stack NL is less than in deep stack, but how much less is it? Let's say that one is playing 20BB and the max buyin is 100BB. How do they compare against each other in terms of long-term variance?

True, but since you're only losing 1/5th of a stack each time, doesn't the overall $ variance go way down?

I think so. I play short a lot somewhere between 20-60BB, and very rarely do I have a downswing of over 200BB (2 full buyins) which obv. can be up to 10 short Buyins which is pretty sick.... but not uncommon.
