Canadians- losing Citadel and Neteller
 

As of early April 2007 no more poker transactions on Neteller or
Citadel for Canadians. Does anyone know why?
Also what are you US players using now?

Matters of gaming, betting and prostitution are dealt with in Part VII . The big questions are of (priority of) enforcement, and (jursidiction, or) enforceability. Certain poster(s) have suggested the environment in Canada is changing and authorities are beginning to take this matter more seriously. I would guess Neteller, already stung by the US DOJ, isn't particularly enthusiastic with the threat of facing DOJ Canada.

There is nothing going on in the Canadian parliament to suggest that they are interested in making poker illegal. Our Prime Minister is a libertarian conservative and government has said time and time again that they have no interest in online gaming legislation (a lot of sites are hosted in Canada on the Indian reserves which would cause legal hassle there too).

I'm fairly certain that the US DoJ has laid down the gauntlet telling the online payment processors to pull out of Canada as well in exchange for some leniency. Why the US can dictate how a foreign company operates in a foreign country is beyond me.

I have a feeling this whole thing may have something to do with this. To be honest I wish these natives would just let it rest and not attempt to take on the government on this issue - maybe it will lead to a regulated environment in Canada sooner than we'd like.

Does anybody else think that this may be the reasoning behind several e-wallets pulling out of the Canadian market? It's certainly turning more and more public attention to the grey area that is online gambling in Canada.

We are playing less and withdrawling more frequently, after getting money tied up in neteller.
