Californication - new David Duchovny tv show
 

I hadn't heard a single thing about this until I saw it in the leaked TV eps thread.

Basically Duchovny plays a struggling writer who struts around LA banging every chick in sight whilst simultaneously being an ass to everyone, including his ex-wife. Tons of hot naked chicks, some good lines, some laughs, and a good 'idiot on his phone at the cinema' scene.

Duchovny sometimes acts like a complete sap around his ex-wife, and in places I think it tries a little too hard to make a name for itself as the show with nudity, but it is definitely enjoyable and has promise.

Check it out by 'acquiring' it now (don't ask where) or wait until August 13th when it premieres on Showtime.

I really enjoyed this shows premiere, but I really do think some situations were way too over the top. Anyways, there were way too many boobs in it for me to criticize it any further. I really liked David Duchovny's character and I'm glad to see him in a series again. I look forward for this shows "official" premier in September and will definitely be following the series.

Enjoyed it and it seems a lot more adult than a lot of normal US shows, not sure there is enough there though to make a good full season.

its described on wiki as a 12 part mini-series, i dunno if thats what they always say for new series until they get extended, but i agree that it doesn't seem like it could go on for that long.

saw the first episode... HUUUUUUGE "meh".

It seemed like they just tried to think of a bunch of cool random scenes and threw them into the same show. Ohh, he beats up a cell phone talked in a movie theater and gets applauded. Original. Ohh, he gets a BJ from a nun in a church. Scandal!

They were trying too hard to be an edgy cool show and not hard enough to write believable characters and plot.

watched the first two EPs...kinda reminds me of that show weeds which is just unwatchable...

shock value scene one after another, gets old fast

lots of boobies tho so I'll probably continue to watch when I get the freetime

Just caught the first two eps this weekend and I'm sold. He's a great actor and the writing seems pretty solid. I love how chicks just flock to him, without him really having to do anything at all. And how he just doesn't give a [censored] about who he pisses off or what he says. Here's hoping it doesn't get cancelled after the first season.

Oh, and boobies are good.

I thought it was hilarious. Unbelieveable... well definitely, but it is ridiculously funny. My favorite part is when the girl just socks him in the face twice and then leaves.

A question:

If you have porn where all the actors are pretending to be underaged, it is kiddie porn right? Even if the actors are actually over 18? So how is that scene in the first ep with the A+ titties different?

Ep 3 was OK IMO, but not quite up to par with the other 2. I still laughed out loud a number of times, but not quite at the same clip as the previous.

Also there was a serious lack of boobage in this one.

Episode was my favorite so far. Some really good writing, imo.

I love the 16 year old character so much I may be a perv.

BUT

Something needs to start happening on this show. Like something exciting. There's no intrigue, or drama, just comedy and him dickpunching folks and boobs. This is ok so far, but there needs to be arc in order to capture my attention long-term. Somebody get murdered or something.

got about halfway through the first episode and couldn't watch anymore. i turned it off when he started flirting with the girl in the bookstore. pretty painful overall, besides the boobs.

Also I love the way that redhead is evolving...she's clearly pretty [censored] up and manipulative, not the innocent and boring good girl she appeared to be.

How creepy was the scene with the two daughters talking about DD?

I like the agent/secretary dilemma, but how big of a ripoff is her character from that movie "Secretary"? Not that I'm complaining...that movie is my bible.

Next week more boobs tho hopefully.

Yeah really good one last night. Although it was obvious early on that DD was going to punch the guy later, it was still strangely satisfying when he did.

But yeah, definitely need more boobs.

I also liked Monday nights episode a lot. This show is really turning into something good. Duchovny's character is awesome and it showed again when he punched that guy. The ex wife seemed to secretly enjoy him sticking up for her even though it caused a scene. And you can never go wrong with more boobs.
