I just permabanned his account. If anyone has a problem with that, they can voice that problem here, since he's a long-time member and whatnot.

He posted a bestiality picture inline in a sfw thread, then notified moderator on his own post.

for clarification, if you want him unbanned and don't think this warrants permanent, it's up to you. i didn't want to be the one determining ban length, so i went with permanent.

It never ceases to amaze me how posters try to out-dumb each other in that forum. Although this one may be unbeatably dumb. We're unpaid volunteers to be sure, but if we drew a salary for this you BBV mods should get A-rodesque contracts for your efforts.

It's also kind of a shame because in my limited dealings with Hutz he's always seemed like a decent poster.

Re: LionelHutz00

this is from him

Hi Gildwulf, this is LionelHutz00. I tried making a new account but I haven't received the confirmation e-mail yet, so I'll use this lame gimmick account I made a while ago to talk to you. I just wanted a tempban. I didn't realize that inline horse porn is strict-liability-permaban. I joked to you in that tempban request that i might have to post some horseporn or something. thefaucet got a tempban for posting a women getting double fisted inline. bmwguy got a tempban for threatening to kill blutarski's family. yvesaint got a million chances before finally getting permabanned. If it's possible to turn it into a tempban, that would be nice. If not, whatever... I guess I'll be back under a new account. Really I just wanted to play some poker without having the impulse to open bbv4l.

I saw the thread(s) about me in bbv4l and I appreciate the support that they're giving me. It's fine with me if you want to quote/ paraphrase this note.

what the [censored] man.

All you had to do was ask politely and say if you wanted to take time off. now you have forced citanul's hand and created unnecessary drama for us to clean up.

You told me you wanted to stick around earlier today. Then you post gross beastiality pics on purpose when you know that that is against the t&c. Seriously you handled this like [censored] and I am saying this as someone who likes your posting a lot and does not want to see you go.

I am going to reduce your ban to 5 days but I just want you to know you really [censored] this one up. For future reference, just let me know you want some time off. Low-key >>>>>drama.

Gild,

FWIW, I think someone posting inline bestiality pics and getting just a 5 day ban is a really bad decision.

Then again, I also think 2+2 would be better off without threads like "Which of these girls do you want to bang?" as well, so I realize I'm not on the same page as a lot of people around here.

El D,

Obviously it was a terrible thing to do and normal policy for me would be a permaban. It was basically an insanely stupid thing to do, he knows that, I know it, etc. He is a guy with no real serious history and who is a consistently good poster in bbv4l. Sometimes good posters just flip out and do very stupid things, and given his posting history I'm willing to give ONE do-over.

My track record so far on rehabiliation/perma removal has been pretty solid so far. Bow to your sensei is a huge contributor to bbv/bbv4l now and was ip banned because of a "roommate" who did a bunch of dumb trolling. I sent him a pm and basically said "you have one shot left and better behave" and he came to his senses.

Txredman was a huge pain in my ass until his permaban...then he went to Ryan and I and we reduced it to a tempban and he is now a model poster as far as I'm concerned.

And if I'm wrong then I'll just permaban him if he does something stupid again.

Alobar has told me that whenever he wants to take some time off he just PMs someone (wacki, I think) and asks for a ban. I don't know why Hutz got dumb and just didn't think of that, instead of making you guys do more work and possibly pissing you off...

Re: LionelHutz00

Gild,

I'm not questioning your judgement in general and as I've said many times, think you do a good job modding the BBV forums.

Having said that, I disagree with your decision here. I just think certain things merit an account being closed. Inline horse porn is in that category for me.

My opinion on how things of this nature should be handled is that if you do something really dumb beyond a certain line, then that account is dead and if you want to post on 2+2, you have to start over with a new account. If you then do more dumb things, you get to "ban-on-sight" status or whatever.

right....

my point is, a guy who you just described as a "problem poster that kept doing stupid [censored]" was given a basically unlimited number of chances. doesn't that say it's pretty damn hard to get permabanned, and therefore people can basically do anything they want?

No he was certainly not given an unlimited number of chances...and even if he was given a lot of rope, Yves was the exception, not the rule and basically the last person of an era in bbv/bbv4l where after him we were a lot harsher vs. problem posters, learning from our (my) mistakes with yves and it has been working quite well. And yves has NOTHING to do with my decision whatsoever.

Yes I am more likely to give people a second chance if they're a good poster who contributes to the forum.

If you or El D want to take this to Mat or Ryan I have no problems with it and will not take offense.

if something like this happened in a forum with more people who have jobs, i would say permaban for sure

i am right on the borderline of this, but i lean towards saying that it deserves a permaban no matter what, even though i like hutz and generally defer to gild on these things.

Alobar posted a link to "Peachy's Blog" that actually went to some malicious, vile porn site that hijacked browsers and such. He got a month off.

Personally, GW, I agree with the Diablo that 5 days was just far too little. One month has been pretty standard for when good posters make extremely bad errors in judgment.

yea, I agree in retrospect 5 days is too short, a month would have been better.

I still stand by the decision to remove the perma but I agree that it should have been a longer tempban.

compromise?

Re: LionelHutz00

Wow, just as a visitor and registered user I guess I don't get the arguments against increasing this ban now that it has been decided upon.

It's my understanding that yvesaint repeatedly taunted the mods and pushed his luck as far as he possibly could - hey look at me, I'm a great contributor this this forum, I'm unbannable and if I get tossed everyone will come to my rescue. Unacceptable waste of time and volunteers' resources, and it sets a bad precedent.

Hutz, on the other hand, made a single, bizarre error in judgment and - to my knowledge - doesn't have a habit of pushing the envelope. He is clearly contrite and Gildwulf has already cited two examples of posters who learned their lesson and went on to better the forums with their contributions.

On top of all of this, Gildwulf has already posted to the masses how this is going down. I say he stays the course as any type of change of the ban will look like general mod/admin disagreement.

Just my take.

By the way, the Alobar ban happened 2X, I understand both were a month, and were for him posting a link to a site that from what I recall was some guy yelling "I'M WATCHING GAY PORN OVER HERE" and opening up countless copycat windows. People dumb enough to be surfing 2+2 while multitabling got super pissed, and it's probably a tossup between which is worse, crashing someone's computer (well, non-sophisticates who didn't know how to use ALT-F4) or being briefly subjected to the photo in this thread's OP. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Alobar though, he is clearly a forum asset. A perma-ban there would have sucked.

Leader 08-29-2007 03:32 AM

Re: LionelHutz00

I think you should leave it at 5 after it's been decided also. This guy seems unlikely to be a problem in the future whether it's 5 or 30. If he does it again, it's an easy permaban. So no point in seeming indecisive IMO.

GW,

I also agree with tub and Leader that once you've gone with 5 days at this point, esp. if you've announced it to BBV, then you should stick with it. I'd go with a month for next time. Hopefully there won't be a next time, but hey, it's BBV, so there probably will be.

the message being sent is that it's near impossible to get a permaban in bbv.

Re: LionelHutz00

I tend to think that perma bans are for those people who just don't get it after they've been banned. I can't think of many non obvious spammer posts where I'd hand out a perma ban. It's when the same poster keeps trolling after their 4th suspension that the perma ban makes sense.

daryn 08-29-2007 04:15 PM

Re: LionelHutz00

i disagree when we're talking about something as serious as inline bestiality. i think that the 2nd time not the 4th should be grounds for bye bye

El Diablo 08-29-2007 04:19 PM

Re: LionelHutz00

daryn,

I'm repeating myself here, but I strongly think that posting inline bestiality is in a category of stuff that should just lead to auto-nuking of an account. Everyone can get many second chances by signing up for another account. But I just believe that for certain types of offenses, accounts should be nuked, period.

I guess I'm just old-fashioned like that.

El Diablo 08-29-2007 04:21 PM

Re: LionelHutz00

All,

I also think that posting inline horse porn is worse than anything PITTM did, yet he's ban-on-sight and this guy gets a five day break.

I'm of course not rallying behind PITTM, I fully understand what a pain in the ass he was and understand why Mat considers him a net negative to the site.

But, nonetheless, if I had to choose which of those two guys to permaban, it would be the one who posted a picture of horse porn one time rather than the one who was repeatedly an annoying pain in the ass.
