New sticky discussion thread

This is where you get on your soapbox and launch into a dramatic diatribe about the new uNL Sticky.

2nd!!!

I read the whole thing, and then I clicked the "Bad Threads" links because those are more fun than the good ones.

I then clicked all the good ones just to see if any threads I started were deemed as one, alas, no.

I then realized I don't really start that many threads. :[

Nice RR.

Thanks, one liners don't help a whole lot. Most people see hands and will say "standard" but when you are learning you may not understand fully why it is standard.

Personally I don't think there should be a total ban on one liners. A forum with as much traffic as uNL simply can't support 100% verbose responses to the same questions over & over. Its a hard problem though, because its easy to fall in to 100% one liners. And while it might be true that the best way to learn the game is to figure out on your own through study & diligence why a one-liner reply is the correct answer (or not the correct answer), its difficult or impossible to do this if you don't have a foundation of knowledge to base this study on. And if uNL serves any purpose, it is to provide a place to build this foundation of knowledge.

So cliff notes, I don't know what the right solution is but I think its somewhere between 100% ban & 100% one-liners.

I think by banning 1 liners, you are really losing both good & bad posters, and I guess it depends on which one you think outweighs the other. Personally, I prefer you leave the 1 liners, that way at least if 20 responses in thread say "fold turn," you a) get a consensus that you should fold turn. b) still get a post in there somewhere why you should fold turn, because someone always elaborates. Either way works I guess, allowing 1-liners adds both noise and content.

I know I started posting like 10x less since the 1 liner rule, since I usually post & play, and so do a lot of people I'm sure. Now instead I just surf OOT.

The one liner thing has been discussed to death in the other thread. Let it die.
