Re: Ask me about : coming out

A few things about the study finding I posted:

A. Things like "well a lot of my friends dislike gays and I doubt all are latent gays," doesn't really contribute anything at all. Like, at all.

B. Obv I doubt the study is conclusive and a larger sample size would be needed.

C. I really wanted to see that guy's reaction since I knew he would be disgusted.

D. People are often very vocal/visible about things that they are insecure about. Think girls who wear overwhelming amounts of makeup, guys who flash cash everywhere they go, or people who always talk down to others. These people are often insecure about their looks, monetary status, and intellect, respectively. You don't think it's possible that the extreme gay bashers are desperately trying to affirm their heteroness so nobody will question it? I mean, I have as much desire to bang dudes as this dude says he does (none), but I'm not out screaming about disgusting it is, how they are varying degrees of retarded, etc.

E. I copy/pasted that write up from another site. They weren't my words, for whatever that is worth.

F. I like how his, and anyone who gets angry at something I write, first response to me was "OMG a cokehead lol shutup." I've never done coke in my life.

I think my statement has about the same amount of weight behind it as the study you presented to us. i.e. probably not much atall. Thinking 80% of homophobes are latent/closet homosexuals is just ridiculous.

Except one actually did some research, however small, and one is just an assumption about some dudes you know. There are varying degrees of sexuality, meaning not every homophobe is completely gay. I agree that 80% is ridiculous, but if you look at the most hardcore, extreme anti-gay people, I would not be surprised at all if a decent amount were some level of gay. To come out unprovoked and loudly exclaim how hetero you are and how much gays suck when everyone will presume you are hetero to begin with just reeks of insecurity.

Also, what would you say the odds were that a study of this size found the results that it did if there were no correlation between homophobia and being more aroused when watching gay porn than non-homophobes among the general population?

If you are going to get laid 100 times with 100 dudes, what percentage of the time will you be pitching, vs. catching.

Thx

First of all, as a pastor, I wanted to weigh in. I won't even touch all of the discussion on the bible since 1) it would be the longest post ever and 2) you guys wouldn't believe me anyway...suffice it to say none of you have any idea about the historical accuracy of the bible nor any of the scholarly issures surrounding it and are merely expressing what you think. No big, but you are waaaaay off.

Secondly, re: Christians and homosexuals. Gays think 'church people' hate them because, well, church people hate them, and it is completely the fault of 'church people'. Somehow the majority of Christians have stopped loving people whom Jesus has never stopped loving. There's no way we can call ourselves followers of Christ while openly detesting people. It is a non sequiter.

But in all of these questions we're missing perhaps the most vital: OP, what was your relationship with your father from your earliest childhood? Was he abusive? Aloof? Unloving/uncaring? Absent? Because this is the case in the vastly overwhelming majority of homosexuals. See, I don't believe that gays are born that way, but I truly believe that *they* believe that they were born that way. Reason being, from their earliest rememberances, i.e. the time that heteros were noticing girls, they were noticing boys. What else could they believe than that they were born like that? Therefore, I do not believe that the vast majority of homosexuals chose to be so. However, science seems to believe that the relationship with the child and his/her father from a very young age actually determines these types of gender issues. Some wire seems to get crossed mentally/emotionally in the earliest stages of development. So, OP, what was your relationship with your father like?
